Is there a need for a Super Bowl Half-Time Show?

Yeah. The few viewers that are not yet drunk, asleep or praying to the porcelain pony are SURE to hang around for yet another repetitious disaster from EN-BEE-CEE.

I predict they'll win the night and week. And may get two of the top shows of the year.

They'll win the night of course. NBC win the week? And what could these top 2 shows possibly be?

The worst thing about the Stupid Bowl is that it forces every other broadcast show into repeats.

And now that advertisers are putting their SB commercials on the 'Net days before The Big Game there is even less reason to watch the Endless Commercial (tm) - unless you are interested in seeing a bit of football in between.

I intend to watch the Super Bowl tomorrow (go Patriots), but I find it to be just a bunch of snippets of football in between a commercial showcase and a concert.

"And when the halftime is over, radio DJs will have lots of things to talk about."

You mean the computers are actually *talking* on the radio now?

Millions tune in for the hoop-la and mostly bad commericals, what does that say about Americans these days, it sure takes little to entertain the masses, they
even dregged up that old relic Madonna though she is probably an improvement over some of the acts of recent years.

I think that The Super Bowl is already overhyped as it has been for the past decade or so.

I predict the following:

The Super Bowl will be seen by BILLIONS like they have been advertising for years now.

One team will win The Super Bowl. Already it's a given who will win but how long before anyone actually forgets who won it in the first place.

Madonna will pull a stunt. She has already been capable of that many times over.

And how long before Justin Bieber and Adele will join into the Halftime Show at The Super Bowl? About the only thing the Halftime Show will offer will be someone that will be forgettable in a few years.

I don't know...people still talk about the wardrobe malfunction. But that's usually what it takes for immortality, either in the halftime show, or anything else. The point is that an artist gets a platform. What they do with it is up to them. The Black-Eyed Peas squandered their opportunity last year. I agree that Madonna won't waste her chance. She knows what she's doing, and understands this opportunity.

When was the last time you have heard Janet Jackson's name in anything either in singing or acting after the wardrobe malfunction? I've heard more about Justin Timberlake in the past few years than I had of Janet Jackson.

Let's face it though, Madonna is getting paid a whole bunch for her 30 minutes of halftime show time. I imagine she could care less about The Super Bowl and probably afterwards she'll be on a jet back to London or where ever she lives by the time The Super Bowl ends. As long as she gets that 7 figure paycheck for 30 minutes is what matters to her.

I don't think that's true. She's using this performance to launch her new album, to be released at the end of March. It's the first of a 3 album deal with Interscope. She's hired Cirque Du Soleil to choreograph. This is a big deal for her and her career.

i saw the last part of madonna`s performance at the superbowl on tv.to me it was all glitz and visual and no substance.

That loud "thud" you just heard and felt was me falling off of my chair while laughing about "substance on PBS". But I digress. Years ago in Washington, D.C. one of the local TV stations (WDCA maybe?) always ran "Football Haters Matinee", decent movies on Sundays across from football. And considering how the Redskins often played in that era, I watched a LOT of those movies! "Speed" was tonights alternative on a major network. And there's always your DVR, a movie channel or a rental. Loads of choices if you're not a football fan. And there's a boatload of AM and FM channels, and internet radio choices too! Don't forget sex wuth your significant other! Think how pleased she'd be if you actually picked HER over FOOTBALL!!! :D

Adele has actually had some musical and vocal training and has some actual talent. (She has had vocal issues lately, AND IS SAID TO BE A CIGARETTE SMOKER! Yikes!) If she doesn't go off the rails, such talent will ensure she NEVER appears during a "Super" Bowl half-time show,. Bieber, maybe.
