What happened in the trial? Did the Easthams get their stations back? An inquiring mind wonders such things....

Russell's attorney walked into court that morning and asked that she be allowed to withdraw as Russell's attorney. She cited some legal statue and said she could no longer represent him because she had been asked to do something unethical. Imagine that, Jerry Russell asking someone to do something unethical. Anyway, the judge gave good ole Jerry 60 days to find a new attorney. His previous attorney quit on him under similar circumstances.

Remember Watergate? Well this is what I call "MRS-gate."

You know the saying,"What goes around, comes around?" Well, the attorneys that represent Russell had to force their way out of his representationjust like he does with personnel, engineers, and sales people. Whoever the next group of "legal eagles" that want to represent him, good luck. They will definetly NEED it!

The power of one corruptive minority "broadcaster" is slowly going down in a number of ways. I have a feeling that he'll be "broadcasting" his way into a cell phone. None will hear him, but sometimes maybe more suck-up of his "regime" will crop up.

Russell needs to retire from this business. He has already ruined quality radio on all areas and I do not think he will be in power much longer (unless some small miracle should happen). I just hope the Easthams get those stations back. Only THEY know Pine Bluff radio better. Believe me.

60 days, huh? I'll bet he will call every attorney he knows -- including Keith Miller, an attorney from Tyler, TX (that advertises on KZEY a lot). I wonder how many turndowns he will get in the process of being represented?
______________

I don't know that Craig wants the stations back. He just wants his money. Russell paid him $1.1-million cash and a note for $350,000. It's the $350k that Craig is suing to collect because Mr. Russell won't make the payments. If Craig wins, all he can get is a judgment against the building and the real estate. He could then sieze it, but at that point the esteemed Mr. Russell will file bankruptcy. What a buffoon!

Considering the prevailing lawyer stereotype, you KNOW it's getting bad when an attorney pulls out of a case and cites ethics as being the reason.

Larry, you have proved a real valid point, my friend. I remembered meeting you almost two years ago when I was in Pine Bluff checking the engineering on it or was it another person I met at that time? I guess one of you were wearing the Delta Country shirt then.

But you are right about one thing. Russell will eventually file Chapter 13 and just plain get out of radio forever. Truth is, he doesn't really know what he is really up against. Once the Easthams get the $350k, then he will have get out of there.

Like I always say, the truth hurts.....in very large injected doses!
______________

There is a process, I understand by talking to some of my broker and engineer friends, who claim to understand FCC procedures (and everyone knows everything about FCC Radio REgs, but know one says the same thing, but anyway, back to the process) where the seller who owner financed a radio station to a buyer can get the license back from said buyer.

However, Russell has had radio stations repossessed from him before (KYYK-FM/KNET-AM Palestine, TX, December 2003), and he saw to it that the stations were inoperable before Witkowski reassumed control. That was after 4 months of court battle.

Craig, should you be able to get the stations back, it would be an honor to work for you and revive/resurrect Q101 and take that station to new heights.

I too used to work for/with Craig...in the good ole days of kdda. I don't know if Craig wants to play radio anymore. I too would love to work for him...but radio being what it is now...I don't know where he'd get the money to pay me...and to be honest I work "cheap"...I just love radio (and have no real skills or degrees...so I'm 1/2 step away from living in a dumpster somewhere...)

Good Luck to Craig what ever he decides to do.

On a separate note: anyone out there know what ever became of Clyde Mitchel aka Kenny Cresswell? The Infamous Dr. Boo?
