Is There A Secret To Receiving CBC Streams Through VPN?

Try as I might I have been unable to watch CBC streams of NHL games or their hockey-related shows (Coach' Corner, Hotstove) using VPN with a Canadian server (both Toronto & Montreal). Does the CBC do something besides a fundamental geography check on the IP?

I miss my Grapes!!!!

Maybe something to do with the NHL's programming rights? They might have an exclusivity with any online game coverage through NHL.com, just like the other pro leagues.

I try to get a live stream of their Hockey Night In Canada, but I always get the same message: This broadcast is not authorized in your country.

There are ways around that on the internet. Just Google "Watch CBC", but I caution you, some of the working sites are using a smaller screen with ads all around.
As far as I know, they will not allow full screen option.

I've been able to watch through some European sources but not full screen, as you say. Also, the commercials and between-periods shows (like Coach's Corner) are not shown. Was trying to get the whole program but haven't been able to do so yet.

Do you know anyone near the border or in Canada who has access to a CBC affiliate? Maybe a Slingbox is your answer. I've considered getting one to put in Chicago for a while but never actually pulled the trigger.

Unfortunately, all the Canadians I have known keep moving to Phoenix.

And refuse to buy tickets to Coyotes games, right?

They don't want to drive 25-40 miles through the city on packed rush-hour freeways to get to the west-side arena. It takes an hour and a half minimum to get from Mesa (where the hockey fans are) to Glendale (where Jobing.com Arena is) during rush hour for a 7 PM game.

What Keith said....in addition to trading away all the talented players who came initially with the franchise then the coaching debacle with The Great One and the ongoing ownership issues.

The only thing that hasn't been done to discourage the Coyotes is to actually melt the ice!

Don't give them any ideas. They might think about moving the team next door to the Cardinals' stadium, and open the roof on game days. Even in January, the ice would melt. ;D
