Is there any new/Active rock left out there?

I can't get WSOU - WDHA (only on my directional antenna at home and don;t care because of internet streams and MP3's) or WPDH here in greenwich CT Is there anything else for NEW rock out there. I'm tired of classic rock. Is there any college station with like a metal show of something that I missed?
just to give you an Idea of the dial where I am:

Rock? Not really
9.51 WRKI - Rock N Roll/Classic rock.. listenable car only (too much mulitipath mix here) more tolerable than k-rock currently
95.9 WFOX - classic rock
102.3 WBAB - Rock N Roll/Classic Rock -don't really play anything thats new
104.3 WAXQ - classic Rock there going to be my number one preset again if K-rock keeps this up!

Adult contemporary:
95.5 Wplj (more top 40 tho..)
967 WCTZ - the coast
97.5 WALK
99.9 Star
107.9 Webe 108
103.9/106.3 WFAF/WFAS WFAF used to rule when it was WPDH'es relay...
I'm sure I missed one...

I am officially calling anyone who lives within 15 miles of Greenwich the island of No Rock and Just classic rock/Adult Contemporary...

Thoughts?

WXCI 91.7 out of Danbury (Western Connecticut State University) if you can get them. They don't play just rock but they certainly play a lot of new music. And, I believe they have a metal show on Sunday nights.

Edited spelling and for a few I forgot...

Rock? Not really hence why everyone has given up on radio around here as a usual listener (i'll go with the 20 min rule here)
101.9 WRXP alternative without a harder edge? the music they play makes me want to fall asleep sometimes... many will wait for a harder tune
991. WPLR Rock N roll ( comes in and out on the dial but usually wins off out over star 99.1.
107.1 the Peak world class rock
9.51 WRKI - Rock N Roll/Classic rock.. listenable car only (too much mulitipath mix here) more tolerable than k-rock currently
95.9 WFOX - classic rock

Hey Frozenfiresb, thanks for the input! 91.7 WXCI does come in here very Vaguely If you have a good tuner sensitivity and I have tuned into a few times otherwise 91.5 kills it here. I can get them stationary but not when I am moving around (aka in the car) I wonder if they could buy the 103.1 translators that have been going to waste down here...

Don't know if it might be too far, but...WFUV-FM-90.7 Fordham University's station...now on HD3 they've added a dedicated Alternative music channel in addition to their main channel + HD2.

Some other college stations that have some modern rock programming:

88.1 WARY Valhalla, NY (Westchester Community College)
90.3 WHPC Garden City, NY (Nassau Community College)

I am unsure of their schedules and you may not be able to pick them up in Greenwich (particularly 90.3 because of WDFH in Ossining).

You could always move to the Jersey shore and get 95.9 WRAT "The Rat." I feel like K-Rock should sound more like them. Or you could move in the direction of Hartford toward your favorite station, WCCC.

WRAT? Meh. As someone that's heard them my share of times, they're the typical Greater GREEDia station that plays the same safe rock songs over and over again. And while they deserve credit for playing more Currents than K-Rock, they still play too few - maybe about 15-20 if you're lucky. They also keep many of their "Currents" in fairly high rotation. Worse still, they tend to cater to a soccer-mom audience, perhaps because they compete with a very good alternative station (G Rock 106.3/106.5). Their liners tout them as being "the station that plays it all". But they lean heavily toward the more vanilla side of rock, playing sappy ballads from the likes of Hinder, Buckcherry and Daughtry quite often. Looking to hear Slipknot (something besides "Dead Memories", which should have been a Stone Sour song), Five Finger Death Punch, Hollywood Undead, All That Remains, etc.? You won't find them on The Rat, or any Greater GREEDia "rock" station for that matter. You'll even rarely hear System Of A Down, Tool, Korn (and when they play them, it's usually some lame remix), and Mudvayne (it took over a month for them to add "Do What You Do", and don't expect to hear anything else from them). Their bread and butter are these sound-alike rock bands (Nickelback, Hinder, Daughtry, 3 Doors Down, Saving Abel, Theory Of A Deadman, etc.) combined with the most tired classic rock of the '70s, '80s and '90s.

WCCC? Now that's more like it. If K-Rock had a sound closer to this, it would give them a unique identity and they would sound very different from the competition. WRXP should be the Alternative and 'XRK should go Active Rock. The truckers have Q 104.3, so there's no need for K-Rock to try wooing them over by playing much of the same music. Focus on the '90s and today, play some harder-edged acts from decades prior (let the other guys have Zep, Floyd, VH, etc.), and watch your shares double or triple. Listen to your potential audience instead of letting some clueless Air Supply fans program a rock station.

This is the best damn feedback I have heard in a long time... I just wish I could get people to send letters to k-rock maybe then the'll listen. its not about trying to impress an investor anymore...

I often wonder if an Alternative FNX-like station could work here. As much as I may like it, the fact remains that most of the audience that would listen to it has tuned out of radio and gone to other devices. Trying to get that VHS or Beta fan to turn FM radio back on is going to be a challenge.

An active rock K-rock (on the other hand) could do well, but I still think there are just too many bad memories. If they were doing Active Rock, I'd want them to be more like WAAF in Boston (or Worcester if you're being technical about it).
