Is There ANYTHING "Homey" On NBC LX Home??

Right; leading to dozens of puzzled German visitors to the United States wondering why this place with a name that literally means "Vienna breaded pork chop" is selling frankfurters instead. Declining minds want to know!

Next week on PM Magazine: why can't you buy bells at Taco Bell?
My mother was German and could cook an amazing schnitzel. I don't think she ever even darkened the door of a Der Wienerschnitzel.

Their hot dogs are just ok. Hot Dog On A Stick, on the other hand….
The best hotdog I used to get on occasion was at The Frankfurter in the Seattle Center House. They weren't boiled or sat rolling under heatlamps like at a convenience store. They would grill them to order, and the spices in those particular dogs were perfect. Not too much salt. Throw one of those babies in a fresh bun with a little mustard... Damn, now I'm getting hungry.
Best corn dogs (on a stick) used to be at the local State Fair. Lay down a line or two of French's Yellow on that dog jacket... Yum!
But, back to TV, National TV.. Did I say TV?

Not to get too literal here, but some days it pays to state what should've been obvious: I was pointing out the absurdity of this whole concern over a TV network running programming that doesn't exactly match its name. This kind of thing happens in lots of places besides TV. Some call it marketing, an attempt to evoke a certain image. For the TV cable channels, these names seem to be more historical leftovers than anything else.

And that's today's Excessive Midwestern Sincerity Moment.

Sure, like I answered his OP originally, NBC-LX was developed and launched as a diginet over their O&O stations to appeal to Millenial and Gen-Z demos with lifestyle and informal (video podcast-style) news. It ran for something like three years and had all the expenses of staff and production costs out of their Dallas NBC O&O. The result was the target demos weren't watching, and expenses got way ahead of revenue, so they shut down the production side LX. Rather than just eliminate the channel across the board, they've been selling it as LX-Home in an attempt to attract home improvement, furniture, and lifestyle-paid programming.

Should we count how many channels no longer have anything to do with what their names imply? A broadcasting company gets the idea of putting some high-quality programming on a channel. Then when high-quality programming doesn't get enough viewers, out goes the quality, in comes the cheap and low-brow.

A&E = Arts and Entertainment
TLC = The Learning Channel
Disc = The Discovery Channel
HLN = Headline News
How many classical performances are on Bravo?
How many Independent Films are on IFC?
How many Sundance finalists are on the Sundance Channel?
How much History is on the History Channel?
How much Travel is on the Travel Channel?
How much Music is on MTV?
How many Video Hits are on VH-1?
Half of those still have something to do with their name (The format has just changed)

However when was THE LAST time you saw A MUSIC VIDEO on MTV??

ESPN it's one of a few cable channels to remain the same overall sports and talk shows where there's gossip surrounding a league that's more or less the same in it's content.

CNBC overall more or less the same in its content. These other Channels on the other hand like TLC, Discovery, HLN and Travel those are mainly labels within Max app. But that does not matter when WB and their competitors are emphasizing their best content on their respective TV apps. Also the median audience are watching from TV apps on average.
Even ESPN has talk shows & (Albeit 4th Grade material) live sports on its app) while NBC streams its stuff on Peacock & CBS streams its stuff on Paramount+

The only one that really do that sort of thing is Fox Sports. They still rely on the Fox network & the cable channels

Geez the last time I seen MTV and VH1 aired a music video was two decades ago. Its case of its a label within Paramount+ today. Also the rest of the world moved on once music videos moved to Youtube.

Wait- one more!

If you want somebody to give you a look like you are the Anti-Christ, ask why there is no Panda on the menu at Panda Express. I mean, bamboo fed, sedentary lifestyle, I can't imagine a more tender or flavorful meat. And yet Broccoli Panda isn't a dish.

Don't let the granola-munching residents of Vashon hear such a carnivoreistic joke about cute and precious bears from China. They'll revoke your ferry pass, tie you up placed in a rowboat, set the boat afire, and push the boat out into Elliott Bay.

American Chinese cuisine is full of stuff like that. No duck or lobster in duck or lobster sauce, and the typical menu has no duck or lobster dishes of any kind on it.

Well it looks like NBC was listening as NBC LX Home is now NBC American Crimes (Or simply known as American Crimes) as home programming has pretty much been eliminated now

I'm sure the folks at NBCU were reading your post here on RD and changed the programming accordingly. :LOL:
'Jeeper One may be onto something.' 'Because we can't round up enough paid programming to put on that diginet, let's change up to another crime drama channel.'

NBC LX Home has changed its name to American Crimes. You’d wonder why the need two true crime channels? Surely NBC has enough of a library to launch something else?

They should have merged American Crimes and OTA Oxygen into one channel and only be on NBC/Telemundo O&Os while the affiliates carry something else
If they want to. There's no evidence to suggest they wanted to do that (Other than Comcast just wanting to keep all the money generated by ad revenues to itself)
