Is there just that little to talk about …

… or have the new owners had another server crash and wiped out posts and topics?

Or has Atlanta radio gotten that dull, tiresome, and unimaginative that no one has anything to say about it?

No posts about WSB or WYAY coverage of the Zimmerman verdict, no nasty remarks about WGST's new format, no speculation of the impact of Beck returning to a decent AM daytime signal …

I'm finding more interesting posts on the board fod Jackson Hole, WY, than I am finding here.

Just asking …

I have no idea what radio was doing the night of the verdict. It was so late, that I was watching TV. WYAY did nothing special the next day. They stuck with the format wheel with a couple of Zimmerman stories.

I agree with Mike_Rafone. I think Atlanta radio has a case of the summer blues.

To answer my own question and to comment --

AN1067 jumped on ABC Radio as soon as it came up, a few minutes before 10:00 PM. The network had already announced plans and had "flash staff" ready to go on the air immediately. Guess they gave the stations a talk-up, but then they went wall-to-wall, but very cleverly inserting a 2-minute summary at 11:00 that stations could have carried in place of the TOH news cast. They continued with wrap0-up and re-hash, with a few fillers along the way until at least 11:30, AN1067 bailed at that point, but the story was growing cold then.

Wizbee gave a "heads up" that a verdict had been reached about the time ABC Radio came on the air. After the verdict announcement, not sure what they did, but they carried audio of the press conferences, likely from CNN. I didn't listen to them long enough to hear anything outside the news conferences, but, if their past history was any indicator, they carried CNN audio. (Maybe CBS Radio's net was down or they weren't interested enough). Anyway, by a bit after 11:00 but certainly before 11:30 they were back with talk, but I don't recall who was on the air. See what an impression their coverage made on me?

WSB was FIRST to jump on the verdict live via CNN. I scanned the dial and AN 106.7 weren't broadcasting nor mentioning it. Shortly I'd say 3 minutes later, AN 106.7, V103 and KISS 104.1 was broadcasting it live. I was driving, got the call and was pissed I wasn't at home.

What is the old cliche? "Sometimes, LESS is MORE".

Coming to the forums gets to be a drag when people are talking.... whether they have anything to say or not.

I go in cycles. I get caught up in a particulart topic, and the conversation goes in "badminten volley" mode, we get the fever, and we type out things that maybe should have "cooked a little longer before serving."

So think back over the last two or three weeks. In 'hindsight' what valuable, precious, timely subject was passed over. Maybe a silent board was just a reflection of what wasn't going on in Atlanta.

Phoenix board is boring, too. I've been coming here for hopes of excitement. At least there was quite a bit of excitement in Atlanta over the past few months with all the station flips and new format possibilities, despite the fact that the outcomes weren't as interesting as what people had hoped.

But at least alternative DID come back.
