Is this AM IBOC noise?

It's AM. That's always happened because of the nature of AM Signals. Empty spaces also have noises that rise and fall with your gas petal in the car. It isn't IBOC.

If you really want to see AM IBOC's destruction and are located anywhere within a 4-5 mile radius of KPRC Xmitter, then head on over to KRTX 980 AM to see the damage it causes. On Both vehicles I have driven to Houston on, I have had bad interference from IBOC. I haven't driven through that area lately, but I am shure the splatter is still there in the Northeast part of town.

On the FM side, almost anywhere inside the 610 loop, KJOJ-FM is killed by KLTN's IBOC. I remember I was in town when they were working on KAMA's transfer of xmitter. They kept turning IBOC on and off for KLTN. When that was happening, KJOJ disappeared every time it was turned on. It appeared back when IBOC was turned off. KJOJ hasn't been as reliable in the Houston area ever since KLTN's HD remained on.

Ok then it must be that my cable box is interfereing with my tuner or something. I do like my tuner though. It's a Pioneer TX-6500 series II and pulls in stations really well, even with just three feet of speaker wire connected to the antenna jacks.

Heard this pulsating noise on the AM band on several empty spots. Wondering if this is the dreaded AM IBOC noise everyone talks about. You may want to turn up the volume up because it's quiet (I didn't turn up the volume on the amp much).

Could be the Joe Pags Show. He's on an empty slot on the AM band ;D (sorry Joe - love the show - just had to get a KTRH jab in there).

Is Joe Pags here or in SA? When I was in Austin a few months ago and heard his WOAI show it sounded a lot more local, if that makes sense ... more chatting about local stuff, banter back and forth, etcetera.

I think he's really located in Columbus, so that he can serve both the San Antonio and Houston markets. ;)
