Is this board dying a slow death?

Is it me or is the posts on this Louisiana Board slowing down and dying? Maybe it's the holidays or people aren't in the talkative mood  Also, it seems when sportsnut37 writes or adds to a post, that subject dies ??? Maybe there is nothing new on the horizon! If this gets people to use this again on a regular basis, GREAT!! Then again, I havent posted anything in a while, so maybe I'm also to blame ;D Goldear, a mad face on my show, I am not an unhappy person ;D

On that note, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!! We ALL NEED IT!!!! :) :)

I think its just because nothing is going on. New Orleans radio is dead as a hammer! Baton Rouge is no better except for KBRH. I dont listen I know that

As smashed said, no new scandals, no new formats, no new rumors of Cap's po-boy shop having a early demise so no real action on the forums.

Only thing new I know about is Oldies 96.7 (Morgan City) is supposedly going off automation and doing a live and local morning show come January 5th

Bingo, Smashed. The board is dying because New Orleans radio is dying. Good grief - it has s***ked for so many years.

This is a serious question: Which of these guys could get a job in a top 30 market:

Garland, Deke, Bobby, Mitchell, Spuds, Vinnie (assuming he were not a psychopathic murderer) and on and on and on. NONE of them. Good guys all (okay, not Vinnie, and maybe Mitchell at times), but come on....

Speaking of no talent people, where in the world is Wilkie? When he finally lost the job he should never had had, I predicted he’d be selling cars or insurance. Some of you said, “Oh, no, he’ll be back!” Well, where is he?

Johnny, a lot of it could be that this has been--and continues to be--a year of really sad news. I've lost five close radio/music friends to cancer in the past year. Also have three who are family-close, "downsized" into a future that doesn't really have a lot of "gonna get better soon" to it. And every day, both here and on the non-media news, we get more "the little people continue to get stepped on, as the elite get even more perks while the rest of us try to figure which of the essentials to do without TFN."

Being pretty much a habitual smart-a**, I try to keep coming up with something to say on the lighter side. But it's getting harder and harder to have any punchlines that wouldn't be downright cruel. (BTW, I regularly hang with five boards -- they're all in down mode.)

Hope this all changes for the better soon...or that we can find something that's close enough to "gallows" humor to satisfy those of us who kinda groove on that, but still far enough from laughing at the misfortune of people we love, that we don't slash our wrists, or have one of those punchline podjos come do it for us.

Aside from that: Merry (insert 12/25-celebration name of your choice)...and a helluva lot better 2009.

Soxless. (probably the only way to avoid that damned lump of coal again this year!)

I don't think so. During November/December we have kids on break who have to be kept occupied. holiday food and present buying to take care of, house decorating to be performed and lotsa cooking to do! Who has time for forums? The next reunion will be here before you know it, so let's start planning that?

Mrs. Fury and I are going to drop in on Cap one Saturday after the holidays for a sammidge if anyone is interested. Check in on http://ladayrides.com/viewforum.php?f=6 to join us if you can.

Anyone know the hunting season schedule for Louisiana? One of the top dogs on the North Florida board disappeared the day before dear season started. When he left the rest of us were unable to carry on an intelligent conversation.

If you want to go way back, the decline of the Louisiana board started when Radio-Info had a hostile takeover and was split into two websites (I've since forgotten the name of the other site). The number of posts were further reduced when the Greater New Orleans (including Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Biloxi & Mobile) board was renamed and expanded into a statewide Louisiana board with new boards created for Mississippi and Alabama. Posts about New Orleans area radio declined but posts about Mississippi and Alabama radio increased. Personally, I liked it better when there was a New Orleans board for posts about all radio in areas that could receive WWL during daylight hours.

I see life again on this board! I know we could count on each other to keep it going. Here's hoping 2009 becomes a good year for all!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! LORD KNOWS WE NEED A GREAT ONE!!!

wow nedryerson using this thread to still go after kenny wilkerson. pathetic. yes this board is dying a slow death. ned--get a life you friggin dork.

also, the guy looking for "dear" hunting information might do better if he tries using deer. just kidding i typho all the time!

finally, we can always discuss 92.3 ad talk about the changes it has made for the 27th time in five years...

Yes, death is near. Personal jabs, get togethers at Cap's and dead horses are all that's left.

also, dream filled lame 2009 predictions that will never happen.

but back to 92.3... (or insert one of many tired lame stations) blow it up and try something really new. no more soft ac hot ac chr 80's hybrid bullcrap. at this point you could really do something different. talk on FM that does not talk about politics and hurricnaes all the time???????? a rock station that plays something besides the same SH-T i have been hearing for years?

the business is indeed in trouble. it will get worse. station website revenue is not the answer. how about a good product? it is tired. same old same old. same old hokey hosts saying the same thing. same old bad songs played over and over. same crap commercials about getting a house for 199 or a free xbox. same sff. same promotions.

lame lame lame. how about something really unique for a change????????????

new technology keeps real music fans interested. not the same old same old.

what's the definition of insanity?????????? yes, doing same thing over and over and expecting different results.....

well station owners, keep playing same crap, keep making playlists smaller, keep drowning the REAL potential of the medium.

do i sound cynical? sorry, but it sucks. it is terrible. it is boring. it is weak. it is tired.

i pray for the day that radio can be exciting and cool again. stranger things have happened but for now all I have is prayer......

Keep praying because there isnt anything on the horizon that can make you say Wow I cant wait for this format to start, that in unless someone knows or has heard something.Oh well we shall see wont we.

Hey, Marconi, how come you didn’t answer the question about “who could get a job”?

And where is Wilkie, anyway? I’m looking for a new four-door...
