Is this city big enough for two hip-hop stations?

I don't really think of Hot 96.9 as hip hop. It's more rhythmic CHR and a few throwbacks. Jamn definitely plays more hip hop.

Agreed. I think that 96.9 will take a chunk out of Mix 104.1 as well as JAM'N.

JAM'N needs to go more urban and stop duplicating the songs on Kiss & Amp so much.

This is the same company that owns Power 105.1 in New York.

Just because a company owns a certain type of radio station in another market doesn't mean they're going to duplicate that somewhere else. Power is programmed for New York, Jam'n is programmed for Boston. Two very different markets.

Tend to agree with Jimmy, but certainly a good point about the difference in cities. Guess the word that I would use is "lean". It would seems to make sense for Jamn to "lean" a little more toward hip hop. It would distinguish them a bit from the others.

I’d guess it depends on what the target demo would be for each of the two stations. Is there such a thing as “Old School Hip Hop” for the 30+ demo?
