Is this the end or just the beginning ?

Who thinks that this move with The Score and PRO-AM is the completion of the expense cutting on the Trail ? Farid underscored major reductions of expenses and programing changes immediately. The new jingles for the simalcast began today, one day after the official announcement to the former personalities of the Score. Tells me that this has been in the works. Will the reduction of 5 or so salaries solve the huge dilemma that the Providence affiliate is in? Who's next? One of the PRO-AM personalities? Voice tracking on some of the FM's ?

I don't think they are done. This was phase 1 on the trail. WPRO personalities have the highest paid salaries in that building. I think that's the next target. Citadel will keep the format because it's a winner. But some of those fat salaries are going to have to go.

Who, from the WPRO end of things, would be first to go?

Buddy if his contract doesn't prohibit it. I assume that the station was smart enough to factor in an easy out. I have nothing personal against the guy. As a matter of fact I have always liked him. But that show of his is not worth the $300,000 dollars that they pay him. It just isn't.

To me DePetro is the natural one to go. He is not meant to be on in the morning. His ratings are tanking compared to what they were getting when Ron St. Pierre was the host. He is approaching his one year anniversary. Hmmmmm

Farid is the one who should be fired. WTF.

I'm amazed the shareholders haven't revolted. CDL has lost money year over year for enough years that only 1/20 stocks actually achieve, and it's lost 92% of its value since day 1.

Living, I think you're so right. I worked for Cidadel back in 2000. Great company. Around 2003 I bought CDL for 23 .14 a share. The stock is at 1.70. Recently the stock went to a buck. The stock is worthless and Farid drove it into the ground. I'd love to see a stockholder meeting demanding he be let go. When he bought ABC, that was the begining of the end. ABC is the reason Citadel is dieing. Farid Soluman forced that move. He fires people for DOING their jobs! He needs to go and fast.

Some people just don't know how to run a company. That is why so many companies go bankrupt. Combine that with the fact that this is just not a good time for the industry anyway. You end up with good people losing their jobs and you also end up with radio stations that will soon be 100 percent dependent on satellite programming. That day is fast approaching. Everytime a company pulls a Clear Channel or a Citadel, it just makes you realize that one day all stations will be run by a Computer and a satellite dish. The only guy who will have a secure job is the computer tech who maintains the equipment.

And who winds up getting the shaft? The listeners? The advertisers? The staff? The owners? or (E) all of the aforementioned

-SkyNet74.
Maybe NE Tech will see the handrwriting on the wall, and start advertising classes for this soon-to-be-created position :-\

You realize you are talking about a company that just reupped Scott Cordischi IN JANUARY while this was obviously under way....They have put their eggs in the News/Talk Am 630 and 99.7 FM, they are not going to touch the WPRO airstaff in the forseeable future as they are the ones who will make it work on FM.

Although Citadel shows confidence in the "format", neither you or I know if that confidence goes for every member of the staff. Right now Farid has a butchers knife in his hand. He's ready to cut the fat.
