Yesterday's high was a record breaking 101.
This morning 96.1 KEFM in Omaha began playing Christmas Music. There was even an official press release to go with it.

Wow!

I don't think so....I think it's what advertisers want.
Was in a K-Mart store earlier this week and found a whole
section of artificial Christmas trees and decorations.
Halloween costumes and decorations were marked way down
as clearance items!

I haven't heard any Christmas spots yet but I have seen
a little bit of newspaper (throw-away shopper) about
a new shipment of Christmas decorations and lights.

So, they will play Christmas music for more than 3 months! That is a long time for a seasonal format. Christmas seems so far away at this time.
______________

Didn't WOW used to be in Omaha, too? (lol)

Is this change in anticiption of format change after Christmas? I couldn't imagine changing this early otherwise.

590 in Omaha (the former WOW/KOMJ, forget the current calls) is now sports. Not sure if any of Journal's current Omaha stations were planning to do the Christmas thing. Looks like CC beat everyone else to it this year. There may not be a format change involved here, just an attempt to establish this station as the new Christmas choice for years to come.

Judging by their ratings, it doesn't look like they have much to lose by playing three months of xmas music. I wonder if any other CC stations across the country will begin to follow suit this early.

IIRC, KEFM carries Delilah and John Tesh at night. Are those shows off the air in Omaha until 2006 now?
______________

Just tuned in to see for myself and heard a promo with "Santa" saying because of all the complaints I changed my mind and there will be a change at 4pm.

Delilah usually starts at 7 PM local time. I checked into their stream after 8 PM local time and still heard Santa hits.
______________

And now in Omaha! Good spot, and my faith in everything has been restored now that I know it's not all Christmas for over 3 months.

Maybe it is there to give that Christmas in Australia feeling as the holiday comes in early summer down under.
