Now, ZAX, sounds like you are making the best of a bad situation. I know a young man in Winston-Salem who is totally blind but has a great job producing shows at the NPR station. They have labled the board in braile and he does a great job. I tried to hire him to produce for us but the computer wizzards couldn't make their interface work with Scott Studios of the day.
Listen, I don't want to demean your SBE affiliation nor any of your efforts to break through in the radio business. The knowledge you acquire from your relationship and the training of other things you do outside are important to building your skillset, but don't carry a lot of weight in the day to day world by themselves.
You haven't said much about your on air and production skills, but I assume you have a nice voice and some degree of creativity. If you lack skills in this area, work on them. Learn Audition or ProTools and learn it well. Experiement with the creativity.
Maybe you should chat with your current PD and tell him how you feel. I know how easy it is to overlook the talents of the newbie and to not recognize the advancement in skill level and talent. He must like you and appreciate your work. He did hire you a second time!
