Unless I am mistaken the audio portion of the old low-band VHF TV spectrum sits just below todays CONUS FM channels. Does anyone know what the commission is planning to do with all of those dead frequencies?
Likely sell them off to the highest-bidding cell f0ne company. What else would you expect? For the F¢¢ to actually allocate it to something that's in the general public's best interest?
Spectrum that low wouldn't work for cell phones--mainly because of antenna considerations. If they were to only allocate channels 5 and 6 to FM that would solve the issue--it would bring the band down to 76.1 -- an extra 12 mhz. Japan's FM band already goes down this low IIRC.
