Is Tribune Media Still Looking To Sell Itself Off?

It's been so long, I forgot. With the cancellation of the Sinclair deal, will Tribune Media still be looking to sell itself off, either in whole or pieces?

They're looking to find a way to maximize shareholder value. This may be the opening Cox was looking for in terms of seeking a partner to combine assets.

Makes perfect sense. Two companies with like synergies in TV and print.

Tribune's big problem as far as being a buyer is their debt, which is at about $3 billion. A merger where they don't have to go deeper in debt is the more likely route.

Tribune could still sell the stations Fox wanted to them. It would raise cash and take care of the Seattle duopoly of KCPQ/KJZO where cox has KIRO-TV, if Cox and Tribune explored the merger option.

Between selling to Fox and winning the Sinclair lawsuit for 1$B Tribune may be able to work that debt down.

If Tribune sold the stations fox wanted to them, would it clear any other duopoly hurdles or make a Tribune/Cox merger more likely.

The idea of a Cox/Tribune pairing would make sense, since the only places they would have to divest a station would be Memphis and Seattle if this were to happen. But as usual we been down this road before.

Tribune spun its papers into a new company, now known as Tronc, some years ago. Cox still owns its papers.

Cox Cable System already in Topeka,KS. WDAF would keep Antenna TV but get GETTV,Heroes and Icons,Decades on a full power station.

Tribune is getting out of the broadcast TV business they are going to sell just my opinion don't buy what the Tribune CEO is saying it's all spin they are sellers. Tribune will be sold in pieces.

I just hope that whoever buys WREG in Memphis will put a stop to their being so infomercial crazy when there is non-network time to fill, especially on weekends.
