Is WAIT moving?

I really don't think there is much to this I figured I'd ask for the heck of it. Is WAIT on 850 going to try to move southeast? A friend who is bi-lingual and very religious who listens to The Promise AM 850 asked if it was true that
they were looking into building new towers somewhere near I 294 and I55 area, and aiming the signal to the northwest and nulling it south. Instead of the figure eight the patern would be more of the pencil/cigar pattern which would still protect WNOV in Milwaukee and the 850 near St. Louis.

It would however give the station a better signal in the city and south areas instead of sending so much at Janesville. I told him not to count on it there are no records at the fcc of any activity, and even though it just may be possible in terms of distance and proper spacing by using more towers it would cost a lot of money.

He said some talk was going on that McHenry College would like to use the space were the current towers stand. I know they could not change the COL to Addison, so if they did anything they would have to cover Crystal Lake with city grade coverage

I don't see this happening, is it even possible?

Sounds like something plausible and believable enough that someone was investigating it. I believe that as Crystal Lake's only radio station, it constitutes First Local Service and would be nearly impossible to remove from Crystal Lake. Competitors would try to block removing it from Crystal Lake just because they know they can. Hard to say if it was the owners or an armchair engineering consultant investigating it. I always used to do this. I finally did end up doing a few allotment engineering studies, upgrade plans, and applications. But it would have been very difficult to make a full time living at, and even more difficult to get compensated according to the value of the services.

The 25 mV/m daytime signals of WCPT 820 and WAIT 850 cannot overlap, so that also restricts how close you can get it to Chicago. Even though the Wikipedia article claims that 2 FM stations are in Crystal Lake, they are licensed to Woodstock and Dundee. Only the studios are in Crystal Lake. They don't even show WAIT. Looks like First Local Service applies, and the population is about 38000 according to the same inaccurate article, but it would be difficult or impossible to move the COL out of Crystal Lake. It is a substantial community by any definition, not like many nearly nonexistent COLs put there because of the rules.
