Is WEAE-AM testing a digital signal?

Does anybody know whether WEAE-AM 1250 is testing some sort of digital service?
For the past couple of days the fidelity of their audio has been horrible....scratchy, tinny....sort of like a phone line with the old Export Telephone Co. I notice that if I tune the slightest bit in either direction off dead center I pick up a swishing noise that sounds somewhat like a dial-up modem. I do not detect this on any other AM station. Normally they are the clearest and strongest AM signal at my house. Am I right in assuming that this is some sort of digital test? If so, is this an indication of their level of regard for their still-analog audience? If the quality of the audio is any indication, they may as well shut it down and mail in their license right now. ???

Are you sure that wasn't just Madden after he ate some baked beans?

LOL! :D

Audio went from very good to 78RPM phono quality when
they switched out of nite pattern this morning.
