Is Wes Jones really there?

Several months ago Coutry Legends 98.3 went off the air for a few minutes and he never said anything.

Last week he said a song was coming up when it had just been played.

I think he records these station IDs in advance. He never says anything that couldn't have been recorded earlier, like the current temperature or weather.

There's nothing like good ol' listener-sensitive voice tracking. As Ken Kennedy once told me, "...automation doesn't screw up often, but when it does, everybody notices it."

Later . . . .

Automation is OK sometimes, if the equipment is working right, but there is
nothing like "live and local" radio people.

Snce I last posted here, I have heard Wes say he's surrounded by glass and can't see out the window, but he assumes it's dark.

This is at least positive.

;D The last time Wes was surrounded by glass was in the 70's with Wille Edwards at WRQK penhouse! Other than that neither has been a major "voice in triad radio ! Sorry Fellows but ya never had it!

He sure hasn't been there lately. I miss having him around, live or not. Especially when I want to know the name of a song or who did it.

Is he still there? Maybe he was laid-off. It's happening a lot around the Triad.

::) Is "Country Legends" still there???

BIG APE

Country Legends is still there playing the good old country music. I heard Wes Jones during Morning Drive, so he's still there.

I've heard him too. I tend to listen to the Frank Sinatra station in the morning. Though I'm out of range when I go south, so I don't know why I didn't realize he was there sooner. Yes, if you've got a really good antenna and the power lines aren't too bad, you can hear Sinatra in the Triad.

But it would be nice to have someone identify the songs and artists in the afternoons.

Ah,... but someone else is not there. Another one bites the dust.
Bill Price was pretty old, so I guess he retired.
