Is WFSB in their new studio yet?

I'm watching the 5PM news on 7/17/2007, and reporters seem to be reporting from a new newsroom. However, Denise and Al seem to be in the same studio. Are they using the same set in Rocky Hill? Can someone fill me in? I just tuned in so I don't know if they said anything on-air!

After further review on the big set in the Living Room, it appears the backdrop was "keyed" in. I believe the anchors were indeed in Rocky Hill because their lighting was identical to the meteorologist's lighting.

I am just confused because I wouldn't think the new main set would be identical to the old Hartford set. I'm expecting a bigger, more high-tech studio with more video screens, etc. The entire newscast featured many technical difficulties, like the reporters standing there and waiting to go on air when the camera was already on them, and the sound going in and out. It felt like they were broadcasting from two different buildings. I also noticed the main studio was more brighter than usual. I wanted to see the entire move to Rocky Hill day by day.

>I'm being told it's 333 Capitol Boulevard.

That's true. The sign in front of the station's driveway shows that address. It's in the Corporate Ridge office park with Marriott and AT&T (formerly Cingular), off exit 23.

WFSB-3 has indeed moved

Its first broadcast from Rocky Hill was a weather report on July 10. Eyewitness News will be on in full from Rocky Hill by the end of the month.

The WFSB-3 sales staff moved in around July 1.

Not coincidentally, the old WFSB building at 3 Constitution Plaza is up for sale and may be torn down.

I just e-mailed Darren Sweeney at 3 because he has been on in the mornings all of this week. He for sure will know what is going on.

Just read "The Hartford Courant" article and Dennis House's comments. It's nice to see they have that beautiful new building! After all of this, I still have two questions:

1- Why did they have to move down to Rocky Hill? Nothing else closer to Hartford was available?
2- Isn't WVIT-TV (NBC) channel 30 supposed to start work on a new facility in West Hartford?

1-The Rocky Hill location is near the highway, so I'm guessing they wanted good visibility. Well, I don't blame them for moving out of Downtown Hartford. Not the best place to be located these days.
2-WVIT is supposed to construct a new building next to their current one. Wikipedia (accurate or not) says that construction will start by August 2008.

UPDATE: Whoever mentioned about a keyed in background was absolutely correct. I was e-mailed back by Darren Sweeney and he said that everyone is in Rocky Hill and the main set is just a green wall with the real desk and a keyed in background of the old set. The new sets are not ready, but will be very soon. Finally, some questions answered. However, I wish I knew when they aired their first broadcast from Rocky Hill. It was a very quiet move.
