It's still not practical is a portable audio device however...how many people are going to go through the effort of getting a laptop, buying the card, and then finding an adapter to hook it up to their car stereo?

Huh? The whole thing fits in my shirt pocket!

Ah. OK. How much was the phone? IIRC they were $299 with a contract. You still need to hook it up to your radio and pay for a data plan. The TOS still applies as well.

I have to wonder about TOS, why would they promote streaming here for only $15 a month?

PS I'm listening to Window Player stream on my PDA right now at 128k stereo.

The phone was about $250 (less than the price of Recepter). Oh by the way I can post on this messageboard with it too.

If you have a WiFi PDA, you can post here too. I can listen to my station's streaming audio as well! The difference is I like that I have different tools to do the job. My station's HD audio sounds much better than the stream, and I don't have to pay extra to get it.

On the other hand, I have more variety with the streams. So I get the best of both worlds.

I have a question - can you post here too, with an HD radio ? :D

My station's HD audio sounds much better than the stream, and I don't have to pay extra to get it.

But the streaming on the PDA is capable of twice the bitrate of typical HD radio's. It's not going to sound better in that scenario.

Of course, most people use crummy bit-rate MP3's, so quality may not be an issue. Bandwidth will be, and I can bet there will me major congestion issues when the service starts getting lots of heavy users.
