IS WLKQ ANY BETTER OFF SINCE DROPPING OLDIES FOR SPANISH ?

Was that a good flip for WLKQ back in 2004? I know I enjoyed the oldies format
(mostly 50s-60s-70s) and the signal was pretty decent in East Central Dekalb. They
took a big gamble. Has it paid off for them? Or are folks still scratching their heads?

This was by far the best oldies station I had ever heard, too bad they were on a graveyard frequency, sort of like the 1230 on the AM band. Bit I lived in North DeKalb and the reception was great. They actually took your requests when you called, same with Sunny 100.1. I remember being on the Lake, and that it what we always listened to in the boat, they played a lot of "beach" music which I love. I have no idea what their ratings are now?

Well the article answers a lot of questions, but from a ratings standpoint doesn't WLKQ
pretty much have the same ratings as it had before changing formats? Sounds like
money is up for them (some probably due to simulcasting on those other frequencies)
but maybe putting the oldies on those frequencies might have resulted in the same
outcome or even better.

Interesting how the spin is always "this is what a great thing we have done" instead of
"what might have happened if we had taken the other road."

Yeah, but their buyers--actual and potential--come from a different pool, whether by customers (Latino businesses) or ad money (designated Spanish-language ads). That means higher billings for the same share. It's not like they are competing with B98.5.

And Sunny 100 had oldies, too.
