Is WLW ready for Gary Burbank's retirement?

Perhaps WLW will be ready but I never will!


Garrish is irreplacable...look for CC to throw in a sattellite show or two after he leaves. (Paris HOton...The Radio Show???) WAKE UP CC!!!!

Well, if we're dumb enough to listen to the replacement(s), they'll (CC) make the mega mula. If we wise up and turn their crap OFF, who will advertise?
 
I doubt WLW will pick up a syndicated show for PM Drive. It may be Sloane, or Cunningham with Sloane in midday. If anything they could pick up a syndicated show for nights...but I can't imagine what it would be.
 
That time slot is so full of commercials and CLUTTER that it would be interesting to hear willie or sloan try and get anything going. I seriously doubt they would do anything syndicated.....but the smart money says that it will be no more spectacular of a replacement than Daugherty for Furman. Anything new at that station in the last 10-15 years has been mediocre at best, and anything new in the last 5 years has been obnoxious and geared toward the retarded.

Gary's show isn't what it once was, because nothing is what it once was...but it can still have absolutely hilarious moments, the rarity of live music, satire, good(and bad) impressions.

The people who say it got old: if you listen to some of the 'best of' stuff he's been playing, I'm not sure that stuff was better than what he does now, I think it was just unique to hear it at the time.

Hope he has a great time in retirement, he deserves it.

I'd watch for Sloan to 3-6 or 1-3 (with Willie 3-6) and Eric Deters or Darryl Parks coming into the lineup.

I'd also not be surprised by a Darryl 1-3 and Sloan stays at night.
 
End of a era

Gary's retirement marks the end of locally produced, purely entertainment based broadcasting in Cincinnati. A run of some 70+ years. There may be some other programming out there that is entertaining, but in terms of scripted comedy, live music, game shows etc., this is it. Same goes for local TV, too.

Kinda ironic since Powell Crosley is widely considered to have invented commercial radio and Cincy has one of the richest broadcasting traditions bar none.
 
Several years ago it was rumored that Eddie Fingers would take the slot upon Burbank's retirement. Is that still a possibility?
 
Fingers hasn't filled in for Gary in years, he used to do it on a semi-regular basis.
 
Not sure if Eddie would get along with the powers that be on that band.
