Is WNUA's music the same kind as BA's?

WNUA out of Chicago is one of my favorite smooth jazz stations to listen to. Mostly because of on air personality Danae Alexander. The only jocks I recognize from the BA network is Ramsey Lewis and Dave Koz. I don't really listen much to BA but was wondering if the music was exactly the same selection or different. I can't really tell since there are so many different songs.

There's a difference because WNUA has done a lot of testing over the years and have discovered what works for a BA styled format in Chi-town. That makes them sound better than the network which is just poo thrown on the wall to see what sticks. WNUA is the soft urban leaning AC in the market. But make no mistake in that you are listening to a BA station. Ramsey is based out of WNUA so a lot of what you hear on the network is scheduled there. The network will tell you in advance what three songs in the hour the hosts will be talking about and after that you can schedule anything your little Selector/Music Master heart desires. Rick O'Dell has done mid days from the beginning and Danae is good. They are how you should do BA to make it work. But remember they also do a ton of marketing and promotion. When you make the music so generic as most BA stations do then you need a lot of the other two to push the engine. That's the key to making any BA station work in that you need all three: Research, Marketing and Promotion. Same formula on the old EZ stations and that's why the BA version is called hip beautiful music.

Looking at the current last 10 played: Luther Vandross, Anita Baker. Commodores, Kool and the Gang, Spinners all in a row, Booker T and the MGs from 40 years ago. Oh and they did play one Boney song.

When D. Alexander was really sexing it up I found it unbearable to listen to her..I'm female and the sultry whisper doesn't seduce me but I'm not the target of that presentation. Listened for a while the other night and she's toned it down considerably. Had to sit through some unbearably old songs to hear her do a break though.
