From All Access Net News(July 5th):

Rumors have been flying for the past several days about the possible flip of CITADEL Oldies WOGT/CHATTANOOGA to Country. Now, this morning(7/5) ALL ACCESS has learned that longtime WOGT PD/morning man "BIG" AL McCLURE has been let go. Will CITADEL be going to battle with CLEAR CHANNEL's market Country leader WUSY? Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

WGOW-AM and WOGT-FM will combine and be Talk.
Like Citadel did with WOKI/WNOX in Knoxville.
WUSY will be spared a fight. The question is
whether they will move the current lineup of
WGOW-FM down to 107.9's stronger signal or try
to give the big names on AM the better 107.9
signal.

Chattanooga has grown well past its backwater roots, and it is time for talk radio in Chattanooga to do the same. Most of their local talk programming still sounds like it comes from that backwater, though. Picking up Rick and Bubba from Birmingham would be an improvement. Time for the "GO" twins to learn from its sisters in Knoxville and Nashville. First things I'd do is work out a deal for some sports programming with Nashville and Knoxville, then persuade Hallerin Hill to do his "extra hours" for Nashville AND Chattanooga since he does so well with state-wide news issues.

(Disclaimer: Any relation to the old Chattanooga station nickname and my name are purely coincidental.)

Just announced changes for the "Go" Talk Twins indicate some changes coming Monday and again later this month that have them beefing up their sound with more syndicated heavyweights. Doesn't look now like either of these formats are going away.
