Is WPVI going digital tomorrow?

According to the latest lists I've seen, the only station in the Philadelphia DMA switching now is WMGM.

WPVI is an ABC owned station and will switch on 6/12 with the other network OAO stations. :-\

Pity, WPVI is in a unique situation in that it will operate on a low VHF channel in digital.

Oh, and up to 6/12 PVI will still be DT64, even though the FCC was quick in deleting that from PVI's listing. :D

Again, WPVI is not shutting down the channel 6 transmitter. It's moving the digital channel to channel 6 when it switches. Which means, it'll continue to interfere with whatever signal you may otherwise expect to receive from Pulse 87. Only difference is after the switch, what you hear from WPVI on your radio won't be TV audio, but digital noise.

Channel 6 and 12 are the only two moving their -DT to their analog frequency, correct? Could channel 6 put an analog audio under their digital TV transmission?

No. The 8VSB modulation at 19.39MBps requires the entire 6MHz channel -- the digital would interfere with the analog audio and vice-versa.

(there is a thread on another sub-board here claiming that the channel 6 station in Albany, NY - whose digital assignment is also 6 - is working on a scheme to leave an analog audio signal on. I don't see a way that could work.)
