Is WWSM still mostly classic country?

The last few weekdays I've been in the area 1510 seems to be airing "doller-a-holler" style religious programming when I've tuned in between noon to 3PM. Their website doesn't mention anything about religious programming, I see a midday request show but I was certainly not hearing that. Anybody know?

I also sometimes check 940 WADV and it's still continuous southern gospel music with no interruption (even for a station ID).

listen to these in central Pa.------- 1510, 940, 1340, 1600, 1580,
1230, 720, 1250, ---- & you will know AM radio is dying.
Look for many AM stations to leave the air in the coming years.
Nobody will want to own them.

The only time religious programming airs is sundays. The real country network typically airs , with the exception of al shades show, joann thomas and bluegrass programming. There is a short form religious program that airs on occassion throughout the eek which you may have heard. The station also broadcasts nascar

Wwsm does broadcast a good friday service each year. The businesses in the community support it greatly. And is very much appreciated by listeners. In fact sponsorships to the good friday service sell out quickly. The service is 3 hours and is sold out and far from a dollar a holler.

Sounds like what you may have heard is WWSM broadcast of Good Friday service.
It has been a tradition on the station for years and is sponsored by many businesses
in the community and very much appreciated by the audience.
The Good Friday service runs from noon til 3 each year on Good Friday, and is typically
sold out with sponsorships for all three hours.
Usually there are at least 10 - 15 businesses supporting the broadcast.

I was working our booth at the Hershey Senior 50+ expo Thursday and had the pleasure of meeting Al Shade for the first time. He stopped by during a slower time so we shot the breeze for a bit---fun tales. He said "my first bus trip I promoted on the radio was for Fan Fair in Tennessee(I believe he said late 50's), I had 4 busloads of people, and I didn't lose a one"! Very likeable gent.

WPGR 1510 Monroeville Pa. Has 1 Watt @ night the signal goes out 5 miles. I wonder if WWSM could get night service?
