Is your alarm clock set for 6AM Monday?

I just figured that with the way Russ left CC before moving to CBS, I am suprised they took him back or could afford him the way radio has so many cut backs and are syndicating everything. That is why I thought he would not be back. Maybe CC is relying on Russ to put life back into "The Eagle', to keep listeners past 10 when he gets off. I just think it will only take a year and CC might do something different with 97.1

So for the last year and a half I listened to Stern on Sirius, then BTLS afterwards, then lite rock, either streamed or in the car. Monday was a bright spot for local radio with Russ coming back on the air. Sure it was a little rough and you could tell he was rusty, but today was a better show.
For all the haters, the ratings will either prove you right or wrong. Bottom line is he has garnered more attention (good or bad) on this board than most. I guess to me it is really simple....if you don't like him change the dial. But for some of us, DFW radio has something to offer again.

Define huge. being #1 men 25-54 (5-8 years ago) he probablyhad no more that a 7 share. Which translates roughly to 93% of the audience listening to something else. Possibly less, because IIRC, Russ had low cume and massive TSL. (In other words, not many people listening, but the fans that did, they stuck around for forever and a day).mrchris said:
And that's just Men 25-54. Look at 12+ from back then (or 6+ now) and he doesn't have some ridiculously huge fan base. Do people listen, sure. But we'll find out for sure in about 6 weeks. KVIL and KISS have cume in the millions. I bet they're lucky to break a couple hundred thou.
Didn't set my alarm clock or anything and due to the fact I work evenings/AMs I wasn't able to catch anything of RMS until around 9am Friday morning.
I used to listen to Russ on 105.3 pretty much daily. When football season came around I'd have to spend more time on the Ticket but it was cyclical. I listened Friday for a little bit...........and something just wasn't "right." Time of day? No J.D.? Russ sounded different than he did on KLLI? I dunno. But something was different.
Been a big listener of the Ticket for a decade now and they've grown even more on me in the last few years. Maybe I've become such a P-1'er that RMS's brand of schtick ain't doing it for me anymore.
One thing I did seem to notice though.........I didn't hear any of the moaning, mopey, "whoa is me, I've only got a dozen cars and all kinds of chicks and all kinds of free stuff and a nice big house and a fat contract and I'm opening a bar............and I'm so miserable with myself" bilge that seemed to happen so much the last couple of years at Live.
Maybe some counting of blessings and a little humility has set in? Maybe?
