Is Your "The Breeze" HD Channel Gone?

A format replacement isn't out of the realm of possibility. We'll just have to wait and see.
But here's the thing.. Forget whatever small-ish ratings, if you can't sell advertising on any particular HD-2/3/4, why bother doing it? Many sidecar HD Radio channels have been commercial-free for the better part of twenty five years to promote "the stations inside the stations". There are costs involved, but no revenue for almost thirty years.

My question is...Is The Breeze as dying brand or is IHeart being cheap about it???

The Breeze is not necessarily a dying brand but it does well in San Francisco and Sacramento for those Iheart outlets.

Here is one for Sacramento's KBEB. Or was this supposed to be revenue if we were supposed to go there.

It's always '50s-'60s oldies in this forum, isn't it?
There's some reasons for that though. I don't think that it's just because people here ignore more recent songs. I think it's because those are the decades that changed the entire world -- and music was a big catalyst. Also, that was the generation that changed the world - there were about 75 million baby boomers born between about 1944 and 1969. ( A generation is usually described as being about every 25 years or so).
In sociological terms of looking at radio as a medium, teens were not regarded as being a separate market of listeners until about the mid-50's when they were seen as having their own purchasing power in a burgeoning economy. They were coming into their own as being consumers - of music, fashion, films, etc.
The music is highly rhythmic - so it's danceable -- with a simple chord structure in major keys, so it is very tuneful and melodic. Rock is a mix of country, gospel, and blues - the melody stays in one's head, which prompts the listener to want to go buy the record.
By the way, I noticed that you are posting country music songs from the 50's and 60's on the Song Game thread. I can see that you know a lot about music and could post songs from any era -- but you're posting Jim Reeves songs- and that Nashville sound with the orchestrations in the background - is classic country. So, even though it might get tiresome, you're still a listener, one might surmise. And I see you as very much a music connoisseur. :)

We should have a thread about different forms of rock music, and whether people like it or not.
I imagine that most people here grew up on some form of rock n' roll, with at least some stations that played classic hits, or soft rock sounds, like The Breeze is known for.
😊

Wow. What a playlist. Most of this, except for things like "Speedy Gonzales" is from the late 1950's , or from artists who were primarily known for their work in the 50's. For example, that's the original version of "Hot Rod Lincoln" from Charlie Ryan from about 1955.

More an obsessive than a connoisseur, many would say, but thank you.

Country songs of all eras come to mind first for me now because I've only had sporadic interest in pop and rock since the late '90s, while country music has been a constant in my listening for most of the past 50 years and is pretty much the only current music I still listen to to any great extent. I love the music of my youth just as much as all the oldies posters here, and still give my local oldies station and SiriusXM's decades and classic rock channels the occasional listen. But when I see posts here suggesting that oldies is still a relevant format for over-the-air AM or FM radio in the 2020s, along with the frequent assertions that the music of the '60s and '70s will somehow transcend and outlast all trends that have followed it, that's when my eyes roll.

Those are good songs.

I probably did hear songs on The Breeze a lot when I was younger.

I listen in the car when I can.

iHeart had the Breeze (and Alt in a few markets that has also been cut) in all these markets for one purpose and one purpose only: to claim the servicemark for the brands in each state in a first use basis. Now that the Soft AC (and Alternative) boom is over, they're not concerned about retaining the servicemark in many of these areas.

In New York state, where Townsquare launched Breeze's in Albany and Buffalo, iHeart has retained it on WKTU-HD3 for one (and I believe others upstate) to ensure they get the licensing fees for the brand name.

KEGL-HD2 served that purpose for Texas. iHeart does not own any properties in Kansas City.
I see WCHD-HD2 Dayton is gone, they were the ā€œoriginating station@

WNIC HD2 in Detroit is gone. Our "Breeze" station in Birmingham, WDXB HD3, is also no more as of a few months ago.
