Islamic Center of Gulfport LPFM info

I've been following the LPFM permits on the coast and noticed that the one for the Islamic Center of Gulfport on 103.9 MHz has filed a license to cover. If anyone's on the coast, can they confirm it's on? I'm going out on a limb and assume it's playing Islamic religious programming, which is probably a first not only for Mississippi but anywhere in the Deep South.

Now, the funniest part? The call letters assigned were WAIP-LP but on May 20th they apparently changed to WFUK-LP.

Well, that's pleasant.

I thought the FCC would catch something like that. Oh well!

I guess someone at the FCC did not mind the new call letters since they could be interpreted in ways that are not offensive.

This story will get very interesting if someone can find shenanigans on the part of station management, engineers, or maybe even someone at the FCC...

WFTW is already nearby on the coast. Now we need a new three letter call assigned somewhere around here, i.e. WTF.

Isn't there a religious station out west that goes by KLIT?

Reminds me of a '90's college radio hit, "If You See Kay." Just gave the band (Poster Children) an excuse to spell ******* over and over on the radio.

Somewhere, Country Joe McDonald is smiling. "Gimme an F!" :D

It's a Spanish Christian station near Laredo, TX.

And the calls used to be on what is now KSCA in Los Angeles. They always presented it as K-LIT, "Kay-lite".

yes it's true but the wfuk was changed to waip.
when ask to help then get it started I was thinking F-TROOP  remember the name of the tribe? and so not to offend anyone I requested it to be changed to WAIP.
