Island 106 Morning Show

Just wanted to gauge thoughts on Island 106's That Guy Kramer in the Morning. I have to say, I think the crew has clicked phenomenally and I'm convinced that they're ultimately on their way to a major market. They definitely derive influence from Q100/Atlanta's The Bert Show, which is certainly a solid jumping off point, but over the past year to year and a half, they've really developed a distinct identity as a show. They've got a good balance of personalities, sound young without being immature, and their topics are generally right on. They sound WAY bigger than Market #240, but I could really say the same for WILN as a whole.

MusicMan - I dare you to repost this on the highly sensative Atlanta board and just "see" what happens. ;D

Kramer, posting self-aggrandizing BS on radio boards is considered tacky. Bad form.

When Dom & Kingston were programming the place 15 years ago, Island DID sound like a major market station. Of course, Steve was already in market #1 and Dom was on his way to the majors.

Oh, and they also produced #1 ratings, not #6 ratings. FWIW, PC is market #239, not #240. See? You're closer to the Top Ten markets than you realized!

Check back in when y'all knock off PAP.

You're right...only problem, of course, is that I'm not Kramer. I don't even live in the state. Feel free to pore over my posting history to verify that. I should have known that I'd get that accusation, though, because heaven forbid we actually speak positively of deserving people in this industry on these boards - unwarranted trash-talking is simply more fun. Next?

Like I said, I'm not in-market so I have no knowledge of the ratings beyond the 6+ figures, but those numbers look pretty solid for WILN, and they certainly seem to be kicking the crap out of WPFM. I'd be willing to bet they're better than sixth in their target demos.

Let me start by saying I know The Music Man, and he is not Kramer. But he is someone who has an excellent understanding of the CHR format.

This is coincidental because I arrived on the Panhandle this morning and came on to post my thoughts about Island 106. (I'm not Kramer either.) I was able to catch the last 45 minutes of the morning show and think it's excellent, definitely ready for a larger market. And The Music Man is spot on about them sounding young but not immature.

I also think the midday guy--he didn't give his name, but the website says Aaron Tyler--is a huge upgrade from the last Island 106 midday jock I heard, Spoon.

One thing that did spook me a bit was Island's continued use of Brian James imaging about a year after he passed.
