What would have been the point of importing WUTV and WGR from Buffalo, even on a part-time basis? And how would the signal be delivered to the cable company? Would microwave get that far east, into a market that has no connection whatsoever with Buffalo?

At least Buffalo is in New York State. At the time, NBC was on WGR and the Bills games would be available. Why carry programming from Boston which historically was and still is a NYC rival?????

But at least Boston would be available OTA with a high enough antenna, 159 miles as the crow flies (or is that even possible?), and there might be microwave links in that area. How was the signal delivered from Buffalo to Islip? OTA would be impossible.
