Isn't it entirely possible that 98'S format will move to 93.3 and change 97.9

Here is food for thought. What if 98 moves down the dial to 93.3 and then in turn 98 goes hip hop to compete with now next door neighbor Power 98.3 from Mayer! People could get "fire 98" when they hit the seek button on their car radio instead. What an easy way to take listeners away from the once infamous Power 92.3 now the inaudible in the east valley 98.3. Change the name from Power to Eveready already. Is this possible or what? I think it would actually be a smart financial move due to the fact that nobody really listens to KISS anymore and power listeners are going to be scrambling to find the station when the 92.3 broadcast is switched to talk radio. KUPD (Kickin Up the Power Damn it) Put away the aluminum foil and stop standing in that funny pose.... a real power housie of hip hop & RnB is here "the power house...98KUPD!!!!n no additional antennas necessary

Not likely. Sandusky had the opportunity to take the power format, but chose not to. If they now put on their own hip-hop, they have to compete with another weaker, albeit heritage competitor. Assuming they don't raid 98.3 and co-opt the format jocks 'n all, they could expect to halve the power audience, at best. And I just don't see Chuck Artigue diving in.

I can't see Sandusky doing it. BUT, if they did, they wouldn't have a hard time burying 98.3.

I dont know about you , but the new 98.3 signal sounds strong throughout the valley. I was in south Gilbert last weekend and it was strong and clear. Then, drove all the way to past Black Canyon City and it was perfect. To the average listener, not a bunch of radio goons on a board, this signal will be more than fine. It is my understanding that they just got a new processor up a few days as well.

The true test is the sound of 98.3 in a '76 Gremlin in Buckeye, Apache Junction and Maricopa. If the bass thumps in the car, then the signal is sufficiently good for any old car stereo! True dat!

Was that in your car or on a home radio?

They come in fine in my car, but they're choppy on my home stereo and non-existant on any portable. This is at approximately 48th St. & Ray Rd., where we're just a bit too close to South Mountain (97.9 and 98.7 in this case) for rimshots to break through on anything but a high-quality radio.
