Isn't it time to pull the plug on WAZS 98.9 Charleston?

Looking at the latest trends, and trends from the past few books, spanish on FM isn't working out too well for Charleston. Why not go after Z by putting Hot back on 98.9? I know 98-9's signal doesn't go out as far as 93.3's, but at least the ratings wouldn't be so dismal. Hot 98.9 was such a great station and I'm still surprised those guys shut them down. Thoughts?

Yes it is time to pull the plug, but with the growing hispanic population in Charleston (North Charleston), I don't see 98.9 changing formats anytime soon. But it would be good to get Rhythmic Top 40 back in the area.

Yeah, but is 98.9 making money? Aside from WAZS, WCOO 105.5 has also been sinking in the ratings. It's time for some major changes in Charleston.

Well from what Im hearing changes are coming soon to Chucktown. For the most part Z93 JAMZ seems the be the #1 station after how many years now? With the Apex shuffle coming soon I think it would be clever for them to finally take Z93 down with a new Rythmic / Urban Contemp. That way B92 and STAR 99.7 aren't harmed.

When and why did WPAL 100.9 go off the air? (There was a spanish tv station WJEA channel 12 that was ran by the same company as 100.9 that also went off the air a couple of months ago.)

Man, WPAL is lengendary and an origninal heritage in Chucktown. I grew up with the original WPAL 730AM thanks to grandma ;D When WPAL launched the FM hip-hop station they were the bomb! From "Rhythm 100.9" to "100.9 The BOMB" and the urban ac flip to "Mega 100.9" they were always a great choice. It would be nice to see those call letters on any urban station in Charleston and not be moved out of the city.
