Isnt there anything to post about besides WGST ?

I cannot believe that WGST is the only radio topic that is being discussed here.
I would like to say that Im sorry if I offend anyone, and I don't like the station either, but cmon, there has got to be a number of more intresting things in this
town radio wise to discuss...The station sucks, has no signal, and really in my
opinion has no value in the Atlanta radio market.. I also believe that it will only
change IF and WHEN a format change occurs. Its all been said, cc is a loser in
the market... Lets talk about anything different in radio in atlanta? ;D :-\
 
WGST wants to be a player but they just do not know what to do with the station. For what it's worth, blow up the whole News-Talk format thing and change to a Music of Your Life format. That would, if nothing else, guarantee some income, if not a coveted demographic. Plus, they can satellite the format and lower expenses. Sure it's cheap but look at the owners. :eek:
 
God, I'd HATE to see WGST change from a talk format station. I know their ratings suffer and they keep making changes, but I still listen to them as much as any other station in the city.
 
I think a bunch of folks bailed on this board when the format changed. Thus, the lack of dynamics maybe. Where did everyone go, me wonders?

I totally agree. Think about it
  • That format skews old
  • The signal craps out at 4:30 in winter
  • Old people are in bed by 4:30 anyway
It's a winner. Added bonus, Bobby Cox can do promos and sound credible, unlike on 96Rock.

I'll bet the only reason WGST exists is because it's a top 10 market that Clear Channel wants to keep Rush Limbaugh on in. If they junked GST, where would Rush go?
 
It's really not bad if you just give into the gst preoccupation. I would recommend a drinking game. For every gst mention. You take a drink. For a new gst thread, you have to shotgun.

It wouldn't have been as bad had the original post just been "Isn't there anything to post about besides WGST?", but opinions were expressed in that very same post....making the thread %100 about the quality of GST...and not about the frequency (excuse the pun) about it. ??? :D :eek:
 
I was informed by many informative radio personalities in the information business part of radio to make the listeners informed that there's a smog alert tomorrow. :eek:

The where would Rush go question is a good one - one faced by non-CC PDs and GMs every day. If you are a non-CC station, you pay a fortune for Rush. I would bet the same amount of money put into a good local show would hold it's own against RL. You would own all the avails AND not have to run all the free commercials for Rush-24!One day, someone will have the guts to cut the cord!

I for one would like to see a Music of Your Life format on WGST. Clear Channel has many stations that play standards and it seems to be working. With all the great new artist recording the Great American Songbook and some of the older artist like Rod Stewart and Michael Bolton to name a couple why not. It's an untapped demo who by the way has desposable income LIKE ME! The 30 something pd thinks he has all the answers. Hey let's do like everyboby else. I have XM and love it! Clear Channel programs channel 24 Sunny and they do an outstanding job playing standards mixed in with some great 70's tunes and the newer artist. Now if that kind of thinking could translate to terrestrial radio.
