Time does fly when you're having fun. For an eight or ten year period I made a lot of business trips to Florida about 30 years ago. That is where I was first introduced to the "Music of Your Life" format. It was like walking out of the office in search for lunch and stumbling into this brand new Malt Shop and Candy store just down the street so you jump and and put together a "lunch" from what they offer. And so you do this for a few times over several weeks and very quickly you come to realize malts and candy are NOT what you want for lunch every day. I had to do quite a bit of driving while in Florida so I took in the malts and candy of MYOL for about three trips before I got burned out.
I made a note to myself 30 years ago: If you EVER take on the task of programming to a mature audience, DO NOT create a musical diet of nothing but malts and candy. There is more to life even for senior citizens than Guy Lombardo and Frank Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey day after day after day.
