ISS Frequencies

Coolness! Just saw the International Space Station (ISS) come pretty much straight overhead about half an hour ago. I wasn't expecting it to come over, but having just pulled into to driveway and spotting a bright object approaching, it clearly had to be the ISS. Further checking proved it was indeed (http://spaceflight.nasa.gov/realdat...cgi?country=Canada&region=Ontario&city=Ottawa). That was my coolest sighting yet!

Have any of you folks been able to catch any communication from it? Frequency list here ~> http://www.zarya.info/Frequencies/FrequenciesISS.php

Somewhere in my stash of poorly-marked cassettes, I have several recordings of communications from both ISS (during its early days of operation) and maybe the older Mir space station too. Snagged them both with an ordinary Radio Shack scanner and a relatively simple antenna (dipole or discone) on 143.625 MHz FM. Sometimes I heard communications in English, but more often it was Russian cosmonauts talking to the "Tsup" ground control.

I also managed to hear audio communications from the various Space Shuttle vehicles during launch, as they flew along the East Coast, on 259.7 MHz AM.

I haven't tried to hear the ISS for awhile, but I remain fascinated by this stuff. Since these vehicles are passing at least a couple hundred miles overhead while in orbit, this qualifies as DX, no?
