Issues at JRR?

Last week, morning mainstay Crash was told to take a 4 day weekend for smarting off at the PD (allegedly). The "Crash & LT" show was silenced.

Yesterday, we receive word that Pat Lynch's "Hard on Saturday Night" will cease airing, effective...yesterday.

The classic rock is becoming more & more prevalent. Are we about to see even more changes?

Wow, that's interesting. Hope all is well at JRR. This is the only game in town (rock radio), let's not muck it up.....

"Against the Grain", the Metal show that aired from midnight to 2am Saturdays, has also been pulled, effectively immediately.

Like I said earlier, WJRR is the only rock radio left in this town. Let's not mess it up, love the no-repeat wordays, still wish they'd dig deeper into that library. At least I can pick up the Mighty 98 Rock on the west side of O-Town and the Hog 95.7 in Seminole and West Volusia.

Looks like "Hard on Saturday Nights" also got taken off. Always the way with radio, let's take off two of the shows that actually have something different. I can see myself going out of the way on Saturday nights to listen to forgotten 80's metal songs and bands that I may have not heard before and would look into after listening. I can see myself going out of the way of Saturday nights to listen to new punk and metal. I can not see myself going out of my way on Saturday nights to listen to the same overplayed Nickelback clones with some overplayed "classic" hit shoehorned in.

One thing at least is that the JRR facebook seems to be honest about it, saying the order came from the higher ups when replying to fans.

On a side note, sonething that came to mind while thinking of those shows. Am I the only one who thinks Sunny's ad campaign of "fast music" sounds pathetic. Especially when their version of fast is some lame overplayed disco hit the wedding DJ plays to get mom and dad on the dance floor while bragging they're more fast paced than WMMO (way to set the bar high!) I'm wondering if the announcer's head would explode if he ever listened to Slayer, Motorhead, Anthrax etc.

Come on guys..................STUNT STUNT........bullshit. when a guy gets really suspended, you wont ever hear a word, they wont tell you,it is in house stuff, they want you to the next " crazy " thing that might happen. it's all bullshit to bring attention to a dying station

A similar thing happened at a CHR station I was with in the early '90s. We aired a "promo" once each other "Apologizing" for the incident (that never happened) on the morning show which was to explain why one of the morning co-hosts was not on the air. He was "suspended". In reality the morning host had a family emergency which was the real reason he was not on the air for a few days.

Indeed. Back in the 90s, I went on a two week vacation that had been scheduled for months. The second day of my vac, I was getting calls from people asking what I had done to get "suspended." Hell, I didn't know what they were talking about. I had to call the PD; seems he had forgotten to fill me in on his little stunt. Jebus.... I didn't know they were still using this tired idea....

What happened to Crash?

He was offered a new three year contract. He decided against it, so he could pursue rolling out his line of "Tapout" style clothing: knucklenap.

740 The Game is now on 101.1HD2, it replaced "X"...
From what I read on this board, it does look like CC's looking to do something new with 101.1.
