ISSUES AT KTSU

I have noticed about a 5 second delay in the audio when my radio switches from standard FM to HD mode. The audio repeats itself. Don't they usually put a delay on the standard FM output so it matches the technical delay of the digital channel.

If HD Radio is done correctly there should be a 8-10 second delay applied to the analog audio so it will match the data-buffered HD digital stream. Obviously KTSU isn't doing that.

Usually such delays are transparent to listeners, unless there is time specific network programming involved. For instance, anyone with an accurate clock will notice that the NPR and BBC programming on KUHF runs ten seconds behind the actual live schedule (newscasts starting at xx:01:10 instead of xx:01:00.)
