Are taxpayers paying for "agenda-ized" news service?

Early this month, the office of state Rep. Steve Nass asked the UW-Extension to provide more information relating its ties to a pro-worker radio and print news service called Workers Independent News. An offshoot of the UW School of Workers, WIN now purports to be completely independent. That claim has been questioned by Nass through his staff, who note that the head of WIN, Frank Emspak, a professor at the School of Workers, used his university e-mail address in connection witb the news service. The Extension's perspective on that is included in its letter, printed here along with Isthmus article on the matter, from the paper's Aug. 18, 2006 issue. ...

State Rep. Steve Nass is apparently undeterred in his campaign to ideologically cleanse the University of Wisconsin System, despite the fact that a little principle known as "academic freedom" always seems to get in his way.
