Hats off to the IT on the 70's on 7. This time the programmers did their homework. There playing eveything. Nothing left out like last time. Good Job.

Agreed! Those were the years I went from childhood to adulthood. They are playing stuff I never heard when they were new. I just hope the second half of the 70's isn't too disco heavy. I understand that disco was big back then, but there was also alot of things that crossed over from AOR to Top 40. Were they calling it CHR back then? The most shocking things I've heard so far were the two single versions of Yes songs. Those being Roundabout and especially Yes' cover of Simon and Garfunkle's America. The Yes interpretation is quite a departure from the original, if I may understate the case. But to hear the edited version is a shock. Well, Uneasy Rider by Charlie Daniels just came on. Gotta go. Enjoy the rest of the decade.

I agree. Seems they borrowed some of the ideology of the 60's--ignore, the national charts, and look at playlists of the influential local Top 40 AM stations, which were charting a wide array of records and still maintained stong listenership and popularity in the early 70's. An example, is the song "Mongoose" by Elephants Memory. It peaked at #50 in September of 1970 on the national charts, but on KQV in Pittsburgh it was #1 for two weeks in a row. 70's on 7 added the song to IT this time around.

Re: IT '60's & 70's

Has anyone recorded all of the '60's and '70's sections of IT? I tried to do it last year and managed to get all of the '60's section, but stopped because I had to start a new recording every 6 hours or so. For some reason, Cool Edit starts behaving strangely for me if I try to record much beyond that. I was going to try again this year, but now that we have a puppy, I can't be around to babysit the recording process. If anyone has it, would you mind posting it on yousendit.com?
