IT 90's Ruined

It started out good but now there are too many stinking rap songs. I grew up listing to the radio in the 90's and the pop stations were not playing all this rap. Only the Urban AC station were. I find my self listing less and less and changing the channels more. Lets put IT out of its misery. I was good until it hit the mid 90's and get back to the real 90's hits.

That's why I prefer 22 or 47 for 90s music.

I understand how you feel, but 90's on 9's IT represents all the genre charts, releases, club play , what was aired, and what sold only without air play.
I myself can only listen to IT through the 80's and you feel it going down hill fast past 91-92. That's how it was in real life 1990-1992. Going down fast.

It makes you think that the only artist in the 90's were all rap and black, with maybe a Celine Dion thrown in.
It's a shame that people like Levi Stubbs, David Ruffin, Wilson Pickett,(who should've) didn't receive anywhere the type of hype and over glamour like these limited talented street thugs who can't play an instrument, can't hold or sing a note, let alone read and have to use other people's samples (remember O.P.P) to make their 15 minutes of fame.

That's why when you here a rap star worth 60 million, (I said worth, not net) and the music industry is in the direction of Ford and Chevy, It makes you believe that the 90's were nothing but a hyped up phony time in America. It makes you wonder where did all these rap/hip hop songs, and artist came from.
I don't recall hearing them or seeing them even Have the chart and airplay success of the artists I mentioned above.

I was listening to IT 90s today. It was pretty rock heavy until 1996 then I started to hear lots of rap and urban and R&B. I guess it was just that time period. CHR was rare (we had no CHR here at that time) which is probably why I remember a lot of the music. I got my rock/pop songs from the local Hot AC stations and my urban/rhythmic songs from the Rhythmic CHR and Urban stations.<P ID="signature">______________

The problem is that the IT organizers go by the Billboard Hot 100 charts. Because of a change in the way the charts were compiled in 1991, the Hot 100 includes a lot of Rap and R&B that wasn't played on Pop radio at all.

What they should have done was focus on the music that hit the Radio and Records CHR charts in the 90's. That would be a better representation of the decade at Pop radio. Of course they should still include some of the Rap that never hit the Pop chart, but ended up being huge anyway, like the Notorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes songs.

I think it's pure case of your personal music preference. That does not make IT a bad feature what-so-ever... The truth is mid-90s was a HUGE turning point for Rap. The 2nd truth is that it was becoming HUGE at that time, but Pop radio wouldn't touch it because most were afraid. Does that make XM's IT feature wrong? No... it's not a history of music played on the RADIO... it's a history of music... PERIOD! And Rap started becoming more mainstream in the mid 90s... although Rap goes back as far as very late 70s.

As long as XM only does "IT" once a year,I would agree,I can deal with it.
If they start twice a year or quarterly it would be too much>
