"It Ain't Over 'til It's Over" by Lenny Kravitz

A 70's sound-a-like song, hear it on muzak more than enough...

Would this be a good song for AC radio? Do any radio stations even play this song anymore?

Smooth AC station 94.7 The WAVE KTWV-FM in Los Angeles, CA still plays it in their rotation. In the Atlanta, GA market, '80s & '90s AC station Journey 97.9 W250BC-FM has played it in their rotation as well. They did on the day they signed on the air. I think they still play it. I don't know for sure. I haven't been listening lately.

I'll say this about Lenny Kravitz. There's a certain restaurant chain that shall remain nameless, but when I went there with some relatives back in the 90s, they switched from instrumental music to soft AC, and that bothered me. Eventually, there was enough noise from the other people that I couldn't hear the music. But some years later I went in that same restaurant in another city, and heard "Fly Away", and I stormed out. I do eat breakfast at another restaurant in the same chain during my week in the mountains and they seem to limit their music there to soft oldies, at least at breakfast time. And they know better than to do anything else.

Actually, now that Bruger King has pancakes (or did) it doesn't matter. But then Burger King has top 40 and hot AC which I have to put up with while waiting. There, the food I can take with me once I get it.

I have learned some stuff on this song. "It Ain't Over 'til It's Over" did crack the top 10 in 1991. While browsing a 1991 issue of Billboard magazine on Google Books, I saw that this song cracked the top 20 on the A/C charts that year. So I guess this song could fit the AC format.

The Dial Global AC network [which includes KSWW-102.1 Aberdeen, WA and KRVY-97.3 Starbuck, MN] spins this song once in a while. But they have a gigantic 70s to today playlist, even some soft rock rarities. Ever hear Got My Mind Set on You by George Harrison on your Soft Rock station? Probably not!

Our local AC KVIL here in Dallas added it to their playlist after a playlist update around mid-April this year. The AC KMGL from my hometown Oklahoma City plays other Lenny Kravitz's upbeat song a.k.a. "American Woman".

I'm pretty sure I did. Maybe when it was new.

I have no objection to the song per se, but I would be happier without it on the type station I actively listen to.

Here you go again thinking it's all about you. What do you mean, "they know better..."? Is that some kind of open threat that that restaurant had better not change? I'm sure if they heard you say that, they would be scared out of the minds. (Note the sarcasm.)

I rarely hear this song anymore. WLIT so far hasn't played this song, or any Lenny Kravitz song that I know of since they reformatted their playlist earlier this year. They no longer play anything from the 70's, but started playing songs even more upbeat. Celine Dion also hasn't been played, or even Luther Vandross. So far, I've only noticed Whitney Houston's songs How Will I know & I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me). Toni Braxton used to be a regular too on this station, but so far haven't heard anything from her.

I'll see what WLIT still plays, but I know they cut back on a lot of songs that they used to play from the 80's & 90's, & in some cases, eliminated some artists completely.
