It Appears That The Pirate on 95.5 Has Been Taken Down

As of this morning (Monday, 02/13), it appears that the operators of the pirate at 95.5 in or near the Merrimack Valley have taken the station down. Maybe they realized that radios couldn't separate it from WZID-FM 95.7 in Manchester, NH. Could 93.3 be next? Greater Media once applied for a translator at 93.3 for WBOS-FM 92.9, then asked that the application be dismissed.

Maybe they realized that the clear static sound they were hearing on 95.5 was not an open channel, but actually WZID's IBOC. We've seen this before with pirates showing up on 1st adjacents to Boston and Providence stations in Brockton, as well as even a 102.3 in Dorchester for a short time.

They were back on the air and broadcasting dead air this morning. Here's a complete list of the foreign pirates in the Merrimack Valley area: 87.7, 88.5, 89.3, 93.5, 95.5, and 99.1.

I checked the frequency at about 10:00 am. Either you picked it up EARLIER in the day and then they subsequently went down, or they came back between 10:00 am and noon. BTW, I don't know where that 88.5 is, but so far it hasn't impinged on my reception of WFCR in Amherst. On some Saturdays, I rotate my antenna to minimze WEVS in Nashua. At that configuration, I get the best reception of WFCR.

I picked it up around noon and I have no idea where the 88.5 FM signal is coming from either but i'm guessing its from somewhere in Lawrence like the rest of the stations. 93.5 and 95.5 seem to be out of either Haverhill or Mathuen but i'm not sure. That's where they seem to come in the strongest.

No sign of it today (Tuesday, 02/14) at noon. It's possible that radios in the vicinity of the transmitter couldn't pick up the station!
