It Happened Again

On December 4 I posted a question about the movie Nighthawks and how certain dialogue had apparently been deleted and the soundtrack was changed. One member responded that perhaps a copyright agreement had expired and maybe that was why the soundtrack was changed. That made sense to me, and then yesterday I watched a Tom Berenger movie The Last of the Dogmen. In earlier versions Wilford Brimley did the narration throughout the film, but this time he was gone and someone else did it and some of the dialogue was changed. Any idea why that would happen?
Brimley is still listed on the credits on IMDB, but his voice is no where to be found in the movie. I appreciate any suggestions or explanations.

I did a little Googling and found a blog about the film. It would not allow me to copy and paste, but here's the gist:

There were 2 versions of Last of the Dogmen released. The Brimley narration was added later by the producers against the wishes of the Director, Tab Murphy. It also described the Brimley narration as "much maligned." Sometimes, films will add a narration post-production because the producers decide the film doesn't quite hold together, and they're hoping a narration will help. As often as not, the added narration turns out to be discordant- critics often trash these post-production narrations.

So that may have been the case here. The blog noted that another version was released with a much less obtrusive narration, and that's probably what you saw. The blogger didn't know the name of the other narrator.
