Nah, the grammar has nothing to do with it (not consciously at least),
it's more like getting a visit from the Department of Redundancy Department.
It causes a strong urge to scream "Of course it's you, you idiot.
If it wasn't you, you wouldn't be you, now would you? You'd be someone else &
we wouldn't be having this conversation."
And I have to tell you, I really don't have _that_ many occasions where I want to talk back to the radio, so I'm not quite ready for the men in the little white coats to take me away or anything. It's just that, as the original poster on the subject said, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me every time he does that.
It doesn't make him a bad guy or anything, heck, I don't think anybody suggested it did. But it is one heck of an annoying habit, in the same general category with "The time _right now_ is ..."
