It is me, Bill Celler

Bill happens to be one of the most successful, long lasting jocks in this market. He has survived program director, general manager and a myriad of other changes and continues to be a solid performer. He is also among the kindest and most well grounded air talents in the country. You go, Bill

Agreed.

None of which makes him immune from having one of the most annoying habits I've ever heard on-air. That's not mutually exclusive from anything you said.

To be grammatically correct, he should say "It is I, Bill Celler." But please tell me how this annoys you to that degree. I've certainly heard the King's English mangled worse than that......

You have to be kidding?!? If that's one of the "most annoying" habits you've ever heard on-air, you need to listen to the radio more. If you could somehow give the other jocks in this market the same talents AND the same faults as Bill Cellar, they would...on the whole...be better jocks than they are now.

Nah, the grammar has nothing to do with it (not consciously at least),
it's more like getting a visit from the Department of Redundancy Department.

It causes a strong urge to scream "Of course it's you, you idiot.
If it wasn't you, you wouldn't be you, now would you? You'd be someone else &
we wouldn't be having this conversation."

And I have to tell you, I really don't have _that_ many occasions where I want to talk back to the radio, so I'm not quite ready for the men in the little white coats to take me away or anything. It's just that, as the original poster on the subject said, it's like fingernails on a chalkboard to me every time he does that.

It doesn't make him a bad guy or anything, heck, I don't think anybody suggested it did. But it is one heck of an annoying habit, in the same general category with "The time _right now_ is ..."

Maybe it's me but WHAT IS THIS THREAD ACTUALLY ABOUT?!? Did Bill Celler win an award? Lose his job? Get pregnant?
