It is time for Don Imus to Retire

His show is not entertaining. The jokes and routines are stale; many of the guests, especially his wife and that blonde lawyer, are just boring. Imus had a more entertaining program when he was on WFAN.

The retirement of long-time news reader and sidekick Charles McCord resulted in a void that hasn't been filled. Over the years I read where it was McCord who played a major role in writing some of the funny routines Imus used.

Imus' program went from an off-the-wall type of comedy to where today all he does is belly-ache about his health, talk about how much money he has, and mumbles at lot to the point one can't understand him.
 
The "Ho" remark that got Imus fired from WFAN was emblematic of what the show had already become by then. The remark was indefensible -- it had neither humor nor relevance -- it was a stupid, brainless outburst from an old man trying to sound hip. Why it's taken this long for people to see that Imus is ready to retire is beyond me.

What is even sadder is that a broadcasting company is willing to extend Imus' contact while tossing out a large number of (most likely more talented) employees.

That had nothing to do with him being tired. Lots of radio hosts try to sound hip.
 
It sure is time. But these guys like Imus, Dick Clark, Andy Rooney, they stay until they drop dead. I laugh when I hear that Imus promo on ABC where he yells, "I got cancer".
