It is Time For Rock 93.3 To Add Air Talent

Rock 93.3 WBWZ has been on the air almost 4 months, since mid -March, and it is still 100% automated, no on air talent. If Clear Channel is serious about taking on WPDH it’s time they hired on air personnel, don’t you think. Even if they filled in with CC Premier Choice except morning drive, it would sound better than essentially an I-Pod on Shuffle.

Funny you mention that. Just today former WPDH program director Gary Cee made his Rock 93.3 debut doing 10a-3p. This is a GREAT get for Rock 93.3. Gary is a pro's pro and already has a tremendous following in the Hudson Valley. Hopefully, they'll add some more local jocks down the road, but this is a great way to start.

Gary Cee is only there to take over as ops director after the last guy left.

They literally only have 2 people in the programming department (not including TLW or Joe Daily); Chris Marino and the production guy. You think with 10 radio stations, only 2 people in their programming dept and ultra cheap premium choice they have gary cee there for just on air? nah.

Gary is taking over as OM for Clear Channel Tri State (Sussex NJ). PD for WNNJ their rock station and afternoon drive. As part of the deal he is tracking Middays on 93.3 from Sussex.

"...You think with 10 radio stations, only 2 people in their programming dept and ultra cheap ..."

One of those ten stations, WKIP 1450 AM, had dead air from 9:10 until 9:55 last night (Thursday July 12.) It may have been longer than that, but those are the times at which I started and stopped checking during my drive through the area.

That also happened for a few hours last Sunday afternoon. We (justly so) beat up on WHVW for having this dead air issue, but their transmitter is not on site with the studio. WKIP has no STL or any other excuse for transmitting dead air, which of course illegal, the transmitter building is right behind the main station building. However as mentioned there are only a handful of people working there, perhaps nobody is paying attention. I believe though that the FCC requires an unattended station must have station silent alarm be paged out to the appropriate personnel. I look on the bright side dead air makes Rush Limbaugh , Glen Beck and their ilk shut up!

Is it sad that I did not even know as a die hard FM fan that i did not know this station existed until today? WTF! thank you gary cee for the FB invite no radio-info newsletter about the change. I can only imagine about the rest of the population. I hope it switches to a 92.9 rock type format. now I miss that station,
