It looks like 97.3 'The Rattler' is now... 'The Buzz'(?)

Pretty strange that a jazz (and blues?) station will now be setting up shop in... Apache Junction?

Frankly, Novin was a terrible PD for 'The Rattler'. In my opinion, the ultra-right-wing soundbites and that awful fat Bubba morning show killed that station. Frankly, I'm surprised it lasted five years!

I also have to ask: do people in AJ even know what jazz and blues music is? I must admit to being completely stumped on this change. 😲..😕

The website is still 'The Rattler', and live streaming is still the Classic Rock. Syndicated Eddie Trunk is on right now...
That website is also terrible. Novin can't even get Snider right--- after five damn years they still haven't fixed it.

Dee...Snyder? Really? 🤨

Where are you getting Trunk's show KK? I can't find it anywhere on the Rattler site. I just see a photo of Trunk. There's still Novin's Coverdale interview from who-knows-when. But that's it.

There was a photo of Eddie Trunk underneath the listen live. I thought that was the show playing. I hadn't listened to or heard of this Novin before.

Does the 97.3 translator receive interference from KFMR in Mesa and the East Valley?

At least for now, this translator is on Usery Mountain NE of Mesa. Since I live about 5 miles away, there's no reception problem whatsoever. KFMR has no coverage into Mesa, at least not in my part of town.

But why they want to move to South Mountain (and with a COL of Payson, no less! Shows how useless a city of license is.), I have no idea. Aren't they supposed to serve AJ and vicinity?

BTW, on September 23, KBSZ notified the FCC that they resumed the normal parameters of their signal with the installation of a new antenna They should be back to 4.5KW daytime, 50 watts nighttime.

Ok, KBSZ is owned by WOOK Radio DC. They have a website with online streaming with Jazz and Blues They are a non profit that aims to preserve Jazz and Blues music. WOOK was an actual radio station in DC at one time. So, this is most likely the permanent format.

90.7, with its transmitter at Goldfield Ghost Town (COL is also AJ), has been beaming jazz, blues, and soul for the past couple years now.

Can't forget 99.3 LPFM KRWV. From Gold Canyon, which goes by "The Wave" and includes Smooth Jazz in their playlist.
While the rest of the Valley only has an HD subchannel from KJZZ for Jazz on the radio.

The Wave is rather interesting. Their slogan is "Mid century music and today's vibe".....Looking at the playlist, they go from Doris Day to Robert Palmer. Listening to it now, just heard Wayne Newton and Stevie Wonder.

Can you make your statements without adding personal attacks on others?

Translator COLs do not serve any purpose. If there's a filing window and an opening for a translator in Los Angeles I could put New York as the COL as it wouldn't matter. For other license types they do serve a purpose.

UPDATE:

That syndicated show hosted by Poorman was on-air this morning. Not sure if that means The Rattler is back on or not though.

I'm wondering if the flooding in the Globe/Miami area could've been a factor for the temporary format "change" over the weekend.

Sorry lance. I didn't intend for my comments to be "personal attacks" on anybody in this discussion.

It should be said though: as long as this station remains on-the-air, it's absolutely fair game to criticize and scrutinize its programming and the people who represent the station.

Like I said, their website is absolutely awful. Fairly or unfairly, rightly or wrongly, perception is everything in media.

What did you think of Poorman's show?
I respect the fact that he plays all kinds of music--- hits and obscure songs. Frankly, it takes colossal balls to do that during the week. It's fair to say that approach wouldn't fly on most other stations.

I only catch his show once in a while. I listen(ed) more often on the weekends, specifically to House of Hair and Eddie Trunk Rocks.

Poorman's ear is underrated. But not by him!

Now they’re airing John Tesh with the soul and jazz mix, which is a strange combination.
Sounds like a work in progress. We're approaching the end of the month. Maybe a launch this week. Meanwhile, I saw a thread about the Bull 1340/99.1 that's seems to be changing to talk. The website is still the Classic Country with Novin interviews (which is what was heard).
