It looks like 97.3 'The Rattler' is now... 'The Buzz'(?)

So, the 'player' on the website is not live streaming? Is it just repeats of those Novin interviews? Are both KBSZ and KIKO leased by Novin. He seems to have or had total control of the stations.
KBSZ was purchased a couple of years ago: https://radiodiscussions.com/threads/kbsz-is-sold.765644/ Early on, both stations had working Streams, then they disappeared and the those interviews showed up. And you are correct that Novin has had control over both stations from my observations.

There's only been one interview for about three years now with Whitesnake's David Coverdale. Frankly, I don't know how Novin kept that job as long as he did. Any other market would've canned him long ago. 🤨

Since when are two small Ancient Modulation stations with FM translators on Usery Mountain that are designed to serve the far-eastern end of the market considered major stations in metro Phoenix? They're barely minor stations west of the 202 and complete nonentities west of the 101.

I'm well aware Keith that The Rattler was/is a low-powered station. However, that doesn't negate my point that Novin is a terrible program director, and a mediocre radio jock.... at best.

By the way, I'm being kind. If you listened to the content and viewed the awful website-- I think you'll realize that my comments are absolutely fair. 😐

Too bad they're not streaming. I guess I'll have to wait untill my next trip to the Valley.

What's the name of the station? Is it 'The Buzz''?

Is the music the same that is on the WOOK Radio DC website?

There's no stream. When there's no John Tesh or "Poorman," there's just automated soul/jazz music with what seems to be a singular sweeper announcing that it's "KBSZ, The Buzz." I don't think it's the same content as the WOOK Radio DC site.

I would hope not The music on the WOOK Radio DC website is too niche and obscure for commercial radio...and very out of place for AJ!
I would say it's a similar mix to the website. Jazz and neo-soul heavy. Kind of like the "Divergent Sounds" music blocks on KRDP in a way.

Honestly, I'm sensing a KXEG-type of failure for the East Valley. Complete with a second attempt at airing John Tesh. A second attempt doing MeTVmusic would make more sense than the Jazz Neo-Soul stuff. They could even tie in promotionally with the new MeTV affiliation in Phoenix.

Its to bad there is no stream for the station now. I listened to the stream a few times when it had one. Just wondering, when Poorman is on is it classic rock or the jazz music like other day parts?

That was my suggestion for the 99.3 translator currently leased/tied to KQFN but not owned by them, which could be fed by an HD2/3. The cross-promotion between stations would work, and that translator has decent car reception in the Northwest retirement communities (which can't be said about 1260 and their 97.3 translator, or even the KXEG try with the 96.1 translator and 99.5 rimshot). There are a few advertisers that I can think of which can be targeted which could make that a profitable venture, even if it's just a small one.

Sounds like a work in progress. We're approaching the end of the month. Maybe a launch this week. Meanwhile, I saw a thread about the Bull 1340/99.1 that's seems to be changing to talk. The website is still the Classic Country with Novin interviews (which is what was heard).
Whatever they're doing, they're not putting much effort in it. Lots of Sade in their playlist. I also heard John Tesh airing in the pre-dawn hours too.

Those interviews have been on that web site for a good amount of time now, The Listen Live link on The Bull hasn't been live in a couple of years. Same as "The Rattler".

I'm all for a MeTV FM revival if that's their game plan.

I can't stop listening to 97.3 on my daily commutes despite the baffling smooth jazz it plays constantly for the last month or two. I keep thinking the next phase of excellence is coming and I don't want to miss it. For the last 4 years it's been my favorite station, playing mostly classic rock. Deep cuts. Dog and Butterfly by Heart was a favorite. They would do strange themes, like "songs with the word plastic" in the lyrics. They would also play low-fi punk, blues, jazz, r&b, etc. I love the non-corporate free form vibe. I actually don't mind what they are playing now because it's different.

WOOK was an actual radio station in DC at one time. So, this is most likely the permanent format.
And Richard Eaton's WOOK lost its license due to promoting illegal gambling with messages embedded in.... Bible verse numbers!
