Like 95.7 the Beat or Wild 95.7 Blazing Hip Hop and R&B(or KC's real #1 for Hip Hop and R&B.

I will scream if it's a country station or some variant of rock.

Note: I am not against non Urban formats, but KC is served by non urban formats already, but they only have one urban and urban AC? Like Keith Sweat and Alladin's Paid Dues said "something just ain't right"<P ID="signature">______________

Z-95.7 was the only decent station in that whole city. I liked the way they played some POP-Dance crossovers and occassional Rock mixed in with the Hip Hop. I have to go to K.C for two weeks every year, and it looks like im gonna be stuck listening to that CHR-HOT AC Hybrid MIX 93.3......Mix isnt a bad station, but it was nice to have a more Rhythmic youth Friendly station in town. I personally wont be that impressed with a PURE HIP HOP Rhythmic as a replacement, although I have said many times that KC needs a Hip Hop station, instead of that boring Urban AC, and that GOD awful HOT 103,,,, Absolutely Terrible URBAN station..... Personally I would like to see them flip to either a Dance-Hip Hop Hybrid format, or something like the (DIVA) format in New Orleans, but they probably wont. (IN REALITY) I think we might be looking at a Future PLAYING WE WE WANT-(COUNTRY FORMAT) like HANK 97.1 in Indianapolis... Also, Brazil Indiana just launced a Brand new format, that mixes ROCK-and Country Music (BOTH), together on one station, they call it THE CROCK 92.7.... Something along the lines of the two formats above wouldnt be unreasonable in K.C

Re: This Sucks

Might they announce that they're going to stay all-Christmas through December 25th, and unveil their "new" format after Christmas??

See KEFM/Omaha, and look what happened a few days later.

I'm hearing 95.7 The Vibe, but we'll have to wait another 24 hours or so and see.

Re: This Sucks

The Christmas music has already stopped on KCHZ. Now, I can only describe the music as the kind of music a Commodore 64 might generate. It's annoying! Every few minutes, there's a recording telling us "a void will be filled" Thursday at 5pm.<P ID="signature">______________

What kind of 'void'...

Rhythmic Top 40?
Dance?
Classic Country?
Hispanic Rhythmic(Hurban)?
Talk?
Gospel?
"Diva"?
Regional Mexican?
All-News?
"The Brew"('80s Rock)?
Adult Top 40?
Smooth Jazz?
Triple-A?

"95.7 the Vibe"

Urban Contemporary "95.7 the Vibe, the Beat of Kansas City" debuted at 5:00. "You don't have to listen through music your parents like", they said.<P ID="signature">______________

Re: "95.7 the Vibe"

Copied from Kansas Board...

From the wonderful All Access, following a paragraph about how Z is flipping today:

Meanwhile, crosstown INFINITY Top 40 KMXV (MIX 93.3) OM/PD CHRIS TAYLOR was not gonna let KCHZ have all the glory today. This morning MIX 93.3's ROCKET & TERESA were pulled off the air and replaced with announcement from TAYLOR apologizing for what ROCKET said.

Another announcement followed an hour later stating that MIX would not tolerate the 4 letter word heard on MIX this morning and at 5p this afternoon, ROCKET & TERESA would go on the air live to discuss what has been resolved.

Come on! Do they think that's clever, setting up a "special discussion" at the exact same time that their rival is going to flip/adjust/whatever? That's kinda lame...kinda smart, but lame...

Anyway, what's the deal with KCHZ? I do know that they will be transitioning into the field of Cumulus Media Partners (soon-to-be-formerly Susquehanna) in the near future, but I don't think that between that deal and now was enough time to formulate a change. Apparently they've become "The Vibe", so is it rhythmic? Urban? Rhythmic-leaning pop? What's the music, imaging, etc like?

See above!

Sorry, had to gloat a little bit!

Actually its Rhythmic Top 40, which may explain the 'void' they were filling.

KCHZ("95.7 The Vibe") is a Rhythmic Top 40, and from what I hear this one will be similar to what its sister stations in Lexington, Harrisburg, Amarillo and Midland-Odessa are doing. But expect this one to have a R&B/Hip-Hop flavor.

As for KMXV, it turns out that meelee was a 'stunt': They used the word "Free" to announce that Mix 93.3 was going commercial-free this weekend(November 4th-6th).
