It Must Be True.. Mac 'n Gaydos Said it!

If your brain doesn't explode, listen to these knuckleheads saying plenty of dumb things every afternoon on KTweetAR. Feel free to pile on with some of your own M 'n G gaffes. Who knows? ...Nurse Jeff and I wouldn't be surprised if this thread surpasses that dumbass one about a lamptimer!

9/20/12 - When talking about the number of homes "underwater" (more debt than value) in the Phoenix area, Mac said it was 42% of all homes. According to Mac-onomics, that was almost half. hmmmmm, rounding 42 up to 50 puts him in line to succeed Timothy Geithner as Treasury Secretary. We'll round up his score to a whopping D- .

"Adult supervision." Why do grown men need 'adult supervision'? It was amusing the first few times, but now that bit just sounds more than a little creepy.

And why don't the brainiacs in their promotions dept let listeners play "Fact or Fiction" for ticket giveaways? It would certainly be easier than expecting Aunt Edna to navigate around a web site and enter a stupid code word every day. Oh, that's right - it wouldn't fit their "We Talk You Listen" m.o.

Apologies Doc, this post doesn't pertain to M&G.
Their bit concerning the Sausage King/"Working for the Weekend" got old real quick as did their very presence on my radio (hello 620 Sports!). However, Chuck Powell once made a statement agreeing with Newt Gingrich when it comes to the immigration problems, suggesting a leaner-friendlier process is needed. Ok, that's cool, Newt may have a point. But Chuck tries to qualify his agreement by stating that while agreeing with Mr Gingrich, he still felt that those breaking the law should be deported. I'm thinking "which is it Chuck?". The mere presence w/o documents constitutes breaking the law. Straddling a fence like that and trying to be hip and chic doesn't work well, no matter how many times you play Family Feud or try to sound like Wolf Blitzer.

With the bland commentary from Karie and Chuck and the "listen to me" attitudes of M&G, KTAR 92.3 has really began to suck air.

Great thread Doc.

I was in the midst of listening to the trainwreck that is KPHX but then they were in a spot break---you know the commercials that are all voiced by the ONE guy that works there... anyway I decided to flip to KTphonecallsARenotwelcome and I heard Mac telling a story. Mac explained how he was recently at a party and he encountered the young child of one of the party goers. He said "this kid was really shy, I tried to talk to him and he just wouldn't come out of his shell, he was scared". This lead into a long rant about "what's wrong with this kid and what's wrong with his mother that she would thrust a shy child into a social situation like this?"

Nevermind the fact that Mac has no children of his own and has about as much credibility when discussing parenting issues as Casey Anthony. Maybe the reason said parent had the shy child in a social situation is so that he LEARNS to socialize. Honestly, is critical thinking completely gone from talk radio? Naturally Cheese just chimes in with his normal shtic, but I thought the purpose of having another host there would be to maybe give one another perspective. It's awful radio all the way around.

When I leave work for the day it is typically close to 4pm, and I will tune to 92.3 to try to catch the traffic reports. As a result, sometimes I will catch some of the segments of M and G as I wait for the traffic report. So many of their comments and so called facts are based so much on supposition, conjecture, and speculation. When they are called on it, they will often say they are joking, but yet use those comments as a spring board for more outlandish statements of "facts". They criticize almost everything, but yet offer not creative or original solution of their own. I understand they have to keep their show entertaining, but I do think they would need to include some sense of integrity in their stories to remain credible.

The one instance I thought was over the top and shameful was when Steve Nash left for LA. So Steve Nash makes a career decision to benefit his personal life (to be closer to his family), and benefit is professional life too...and they bash him up and down, asking people to send in pics of themselves destroying their Nash memorabilia. They completely negated all he did for the Suns, all he contributed to the valley sports scene, and just for being an all around great role model too. He was never pulled over for DUI, never arrested, no public disgraces, and did so much for charity. He makes a choice to benefit himself (how dare he), and this is how he is treated as he leaves. Instead of thanking Nash for all he did for this city, they could not wait to tear him down. It was just completely classless, and in poor taste.

Not a fan of M&G at all.

Regards,
AZN
